The catastrophic flooding in Louisiana has displaced hundreds of thousands of people and according to the American Red Cross is the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Superstorm Sandy. As those who are fleeing their homes get stuck on flooded highways though, truckers are living up to the title of Knights of the Road.
With packed highways full of people ill-prepared to wait until help arrives, it fell on truckers to keep people safe and in somewhat good spirits. Stories are popping up all over social media of truckers who lended a helping hand to families who have lost everything.
Many people didn’t have adequate food or water and waiting for airdropped MREs wasn’t an option, so one trucker opened up his trailer and shared the fresh produce he was hauling with everyone there – after getting permission from his carrier Louisiana Fresh Produce of course.
Reports came in of drivers opening up their cabs to let other people into the air conditioning and even letting pregnant or nursing women take naps in their sleepers.
One driver even made huge batches of spaghetti in his truck and used his horn to signal to others when a batch was ready to eat.
Carriers are donating their trucks and time to haul much-needed emergency aid supplies to the area. Some companies are even teaming up with local schools and community centers to haul donated food and water.

Thank you to all truckers who helped during this tragic flood. Our hearts went out to everyone on the freeway….we had to keep it clear for emergency responders but you were in our prayers.

The sad here is a year from now or sooner all of the truckers good will will long forgotten and they will once again be hated by most if not all. But I do wish to commend there actions and there willingness to help the flood victims and showing everyone that truckers have big hearts and truly care for Heath and well being of others and or not out here simply because we want to disrupt someone’s day. God bless the truckers who are helping and may the good lord keep the safe and not let them be killed after letting someone who is homeless and probably penniless at the same time.
