A trucker may just win the father of the year award after photos he took of himself “babysitting” his daughter’s favorite doll while on the job have gone viral.
Trent McCain, the owner of McCain Trucking and Harvesting based out of Colby, Kansas was asked by his 9-year-old daughter Joselyn to babysit her favorite doll, Abbie. McCain agreed, figuring that his daughter would forget about it by the time it came to leave the next day.
No such luck though as the precocious little girl handed over the doll and then proceeded to track their every move via Facebook, sending instructions along the way.
McCain brought the doll with him on the road, taking pictures of her buckled into the passenger seat, watching as grain is being loaded, and even taking a meal break with a Coke and a Slim Jim.
You can see all of the photos on the company’s Facebook page here. Here’s the message McCain posted with it:
“Posted these on our personal page and its caused quite a bit of laughter. Had a request to post these to our business page. Last night, Joselyn our 9 yr old daughter asked if I would babysit “Abbie ” for her today. “She really wants to go trucking with her Grandpa ” This morning before I leave, she reminds me I’m babysitting today. Well being the good “Grandpa” I agree to take her. We decided to have a little fun and post pictures of our travels. I didn’t want Joselyn thinking I threw Abbie in the sleeper and forgot about her. She has been sending instructions via FB all day. Abbie and Grandpa have had a good day, and glad we could bring a little entertainment to our friends.”

Being a grandpa myself when a child asks you to do the littlest thing you don’t hesitate you do it. It brings joy to their life and happiness to yours seeing them smile. Way togo grandpa!!!

That’s a great daddy there. Truckers can be powerful influences in their kids’ lives, even when they’re away. His daughter will never forget that

Agree. Your son or daughter will remember forever the times they went with daddy in his truck.

My masculinity is not threatened by this at all. We have a driver who has requested her father wear her clothes at work. His daughter is thirty………

This is such a sweet story. So nice nowadays to see a cute little item like this–nothing negative for a change. I even followed the link to FB to see all the pix–the lunch break was precious…well, she eats what I eat.
Love to all of them

My daughter has American Girl dolls that have a life of their own. If she ever asked me to take them on the road, I wouldn’t hesitate. The nice thing about having a doll along is that it’s QUIET, which is more than I can say about a human passenger!
