The big long road is silent,
big wheels no longer turning round.
The few out there still rollin’,
Are now headed homeward bound.
And in the local truck stop
amid the families so few,
the rigs are parked in rows,
Christmas colors, red and green and blue.
Your children don’t yet understand,
but someday soon they will,
why Santa needs your helping hand
with all those orders that you fill.
When Suzie was so ill and thin,
could he help her? He could not.
But a trucker brought the medicine
to the doctor Mama sought.
What he does in just one night,
you do all through the year.
His bag has magic in its inside
You have just your hard work, and your pride.
Rest easy driver, I’ll let you know
Your daughter is snug in her bed.
The pillows you delivered long ago
Now nestle her sweet head.
