A trucking company was robbed by thieves while all of its employees were away at the funeral of one of their co-workers who died helping others on the road.
The driver was going to help a stranded motorist on the side of the road on SR-78 in California when he was struck and killed by a passing motorist. The accident and funeral were widely publicized in the local media which means a long list of people knew the trucking company would be abandoned and for approximately how long.
Sometime during the 5 hour period of time when the company lot was unattended, one or more thieves cut a hole in the fencing surrounding the company lot and made off with around $25,000 worth of goods including straps, cables, chains, battery starters, and tools. They also made off with about 200 gallons of diesel fuel which they siphoned from trucks in the lot.
A business across the street has outward facing security cameras which the company hopes may have captured footage of the thieves, but as of now, no word on who is responsible.

Many many years ago when I lived in IL and hauled out of Ind a lot . I used one agent most of the time. He had parking for trucks and rates were good. However I was always getting my fuel stolen . even when it was about .79 a gal. So I drained one tank. I parked with the full one next to the fence. close enough so they could not get to it. .I filled the near empty one with about 50% water the rest with fuel and some bright blue dye. Come Monday I was running with another driver from there that began to have fueling. issues. We got to the TS, pulled the fuel filter and blue fuel came out of the filter. Needless to say it took him a couple of days to be able to drive his truck back.
. No more issues after that. . Some things don’t seem to change over time. Good or bad.,
Work with some for years and then you find out who they really are

There’s a saying NO GOOD DEED goes unpunished I hope they catch the SCUM who did this and turn them over to the company and the drivers family for punishment. It won’t happen but I hope they catch the low life S.O.B.s and send them to a very unpleasant place
