Most of the time when a company makes headlines, it’s because they’ve done something wrong, immoral, or illegal. So it’s always nice when a company gets recognized for positive reasons. Employees at a trucking company based in South Carolina have volunteered over 1,323 hours of their time to helping their community in just one year.
Southeastern Freight Lines, a company that runs mostly in the Southeastern US (as the name implies), isn’t the largest trucking company in the world, but they’re making their presence known in their communities. Employees have donated their time to more than 15 different organizations including the San Antonio Foodbank, Resurrections in Lexington (SC), Coats for the Cold in Knoxville, Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes in Dalton, and the Charlotte Rescue Mission in Charlotte.
“Our commitment to serving has enabled the company to build a unique culture of customer service, and we are now taking that serving mentality to less fortunate individuals throughout the communities we serve,” said Mike Heaton, senior vice president. “Through Southeastern Serves, we are able to give back and strengthen the communities that have supported us over the years.”
The Southeastern Serves project had 572 employee participants this last year alone.
“We are humbled to have had opportunities to support so many deserving organizations,” said Heaton.
