Guys why do you stay in a bad relationship?

OK! Today I was thinking and actually have thought this way before several times! Now I would like to know the "guys" opinion. NO women I am not singling you out, but this is a poll I have for guys and hope the women would love to know

I have noticed # least I think I have noticed that most men will stay in a relationship regardless if they are happy or not.

Why?

Guys any feed back on pm's or on the thread would be awesome!
This is going to be a confidental survey as I want the truth from you "guys".

Interesting... in a relationship or a marriage? In a relationship, with no children involved, I would not stay in one that I was definitly not happy in. In a relationship, if children are involved, I would deal with a lot more... unhappiness... than without children.

Now, in a marriage, it is for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health... that is the way it is. I think it is rare to be in a marriage for 5, 10, 20... years and not have times when you are not real happy with your partner. It's a fact of life. It comes down to what the marriage really means to you... or what "marriage" means to "you". If children are involved... the relationship is solid with me... there is no giving up for me... the only way it ends is if she ends it... or the kids grow up and move on... which ever comes first. When I say it like that... I don't mean I would wait it out and leave her... I mean if she was running around on me (or something that extreme) I would put up with it until the kids were grown... and then move on.

We have been married for twenty years in July... we have split up four times (one of which was a divorce for few months)... we have two kids... one is grown and the other is two years from being grown. It's been a long road, but we have both endured the challenge and are better for it. We have a lot of love and respect for one another. If something ever happened to me I KNOW she has my back until the very end... and she KNOW's I have her back until the very end.

... is that what you are looking for?

Contrary to popular feminazi opinion, some guys, like myself, do take their wedding vows with the seriousness they deserve. My wedding ring never comes off.

Some of us actually do love our wives.

My wife and I both said till death do we part. Granted we have both thought about helping the other one get there a few times, but we have always worked to keep our marriage together. It takes a lot of work to keep a family together. As for us my wife and I and daughter are all christians. We have tried to raise our daughter on christian values. I am not saying that you can't be a christain if you are divorced, but God does hate divorce and only allowed it through the hardening of man's heart. One of the area's that the devil attacks the most is the homefront. Destroy the home and that effects the church, goverment etc. That is why I take such a hard stand on the school system, prayer, goverment and what not. Remove prayer and it gives the devil a strong foot hold.

Getting married is the easy part. Staying that way requires a lot of compromise from both. Been "hitched" 18 years to the same woman.

My first wife taught me what life shouldn't be about, and then did the best thing she ever did for me which was to leave. I found someone else, or we found each other several months later, and we've been together for well over five years now.

I would have stayed with the first one as miserable as she made us both, had she not left. I'm a glass half full kind of guy.

I wondered about that. If she wants, she can simply start another thread as the same title, make it a poll, and I'll merge them.

Thanks! I feel many men do this and can I ask why didn't you leave her (You knew that was coming didn't you?)? I ask because my bf of 19 years and the past 7 have fought constantly and he would say I am leaving you ###### and all that, but never did. Now he came from a family that his father & mother said they only stay together for him. I always told him never do that to me, it is harder on the kids that way (if yelling and all that is involved).

Glad to hear a happy ending in your story though, makes me feel better.
