mythbusters fualt for tailgaters

i love the blame game, but you know someone out there on the biways and highways will try it now! tonights show proved that you do get better gas mileage if you are tail gating at distances of 150feet to 10 feet behind the box trailer. at 10 feet your fuel economy is 41% better. they tried it at 2 feet but the drive was on the gas-off-the-gas and it didn't work. (he was scared!) AND that was tested at 55mph inmagine if some tried it at 65-70mph what the reaction time would be? ...good luck long hualers and you may want to get a bumper sticker that "because mybusters tried it doesn't mean you have too". the test car was a dodge magnum and at 10 feet the driver of the truck couldn't see the car at all. "as seen on t.v.!!!"

the jake brake is great for times like that -right-arick

It was minimal. Not enough to worry about.

Pretty sure it would be all of that, when your in the vacuum it takes you right along, very dangerous practice, especially when a cycle does it,I always hope I don't blow a tire.I will not look back,if someones that stupid,I didn't know or see it,just heard it. right? sure I would stop, have to,but wouldn't want to. Years ago in houston texas a ups driver got killed that way,he was driving one of those old no sleeper short cabovers following a truck really close, that driver blew a cap and sent it clear thru his windshield,he was decapitated at the neck instantly ,what a crash and mess, the police figured if both vehicles were moving at 65,it would leave a 130 mph impact, just imagine a bullet that size,no chance at all to survive.By the way,I saved a Prime drivers life this morning in an indirect way,I was on 80 east coming into a construction site,I had passed him on a hill a few miles back when I outpulled him, whoa and behold,he was coming real fast to catch me,when I slowed to 60 in a 55 zone and the left lane was running out in a half mile,he goes around me flying, like he couldn't read the posted signs and also pa dot had the recording on,lane closure be causious,if I hadn't jammed up and slowed he would have crashed,I would not have let up if he was that stupid. I got on the radio and called him a real pro,he never answered,he looked like a foreigner, probably could not read or talk english. His day almost came, and by the way,he had his high beams on,and when I passed him he dimmed them, only one low beam working, then right back to high beams again, right behind me,until I left him until he caught me at the left lane closure. What a dick.....Then they wonder why I am bald.''''
