USA Space Shuttle Atlantis

The launch of the latest Space Shuttle got it's 'thunder stolen' by the most important Paris Hilton story yesterday, but managed to get off as planned! Just found out this morng that there is a damaged section that has been seen by external cameras---dont know any details yet.

I never get sick of watching them lift off---all that raw power and low-freq rumbling is like watching a A/A Fuel dragster leaving the starting line!! LOVE IT! Guess that's the 'Tim-the-Toolman' in me!!

I've had the good fortune of visiting the Marshall Space Center in Huntsville, AL and the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, meeting & talking with several Astonauts (class ppl---dont know what happened to 'the diaper lady!'), but have never made it to Kennedy Space Center in FL---YET!! There are things ppl would like to do, but never do in their life----NOT ME!! The last shuttle launch in the program of building the Space Station is in 2010---I WILL get in my RV and be there for a lift-off by then. Not only will I get pics of the launch ('still pics' just dont capture it!) but also my goose bumps after..ha ha!!

And they were saying that they had to use patches to repair some areas that needed repaired.

Could be one of those areas.

I hope all goes well.

My boss's son works for NASA and was at Kennedy for a while. He'd get a roof-top view during launches, and she has some really great photos. It really is spectacular -- gives me shivers every time!
