| Havnt researched this, thought maybe somebody on here has. But, the 'rule of thumb' used to be that a traffic light would give a YELLOW light in between the GREEN & RED lights for 1 sec per each 10 mph of the speed limit on that section of road. I'm NOT seeing that procedure followed these days!! There are delays of about 1 sec between a 'post-yellow' new RED and the opposite direction new GREEN. How many places have drivers been where they end up running thru an intersection (esp, if heavily loaded) with a 'quick YELLOW light. In industrial areas of cities, the lights need to be calibrated for the big trucks and NOT the 4-whlr traffic!! Also, any drivers ever get a ticket from the intersection cameras for 'running a RED light??' Hopefully, we get some "grace" in those 'quick-YELLOW' intersections... |

| I doubt that anywhere has the one second per 10 mph, yellow light, as a given, the best thing I have seen lately is the flashing warning light in advance of the yellow, and the second countdown to yellow where there are lots of pedestrians, either of those helps to make up for a short yellow. |
