Important... please read!

Coffeyville KS...

I just talked to my brother. Both highways into town are shut down due to flooding! The Verdigris River is 4 feet over flood stage, and forecasted to rise another 5 feet by Sunday afternoon! Amazon.com is shut down. The east side of town is being evacuated.

My brother lives on the west side of Coffeyville, and may be evaced himself.

The Verdigris river has jumped it's banks all the way down to Nowata.

169 is closed in several areas.

Since I don't know where to post Severe Weather warnings here, and cannot get this computer to copy and paste, I will do my best to keep you up to date on all the midwest flooding here.

Roll Safe!

Bonnie

UPDATE!!

Montgomery County KS, and surrounding areas are experiecing very severe-record breaking flooding. The north side, where my brother lives is now being evacuated.

I simply cannot keep up with all the road closures, just be advised that there are very few ways into or out of this area!

The entire southeast KS area is under water. The Verdigris river at Independence is no longer being measured. The gauge is now stuck, but the water is continuing to rise. The last known accurate measurement was 52.54 feet, flood stage being 30 feet. The previous record at 45.47 feet.

The Verdigris River at Coffeyville was at 30 feet at 6 am, flood stage being 18 feet, the previous record at 26.75 feet.

This river has not even reached the top yet. NWS is saying it could easily rise anoth 3-5 feet, if it stops raining NOW. It hasn't stopped raining yet!

Coffeyville and Independence are almost completely empty now. Where they took all these people is beyond me. There is no way out of this area.

Please, avoid this area if possible and say a prayer for all caught in this mess. This river rose so fast!
