Whats your take on lane restrictions?

What do you guys think about these lane restrictions? Few weeks back they put hammer lane restrictions on I-30 and a few other hiways here in Arkansas.
I see it as a rolling hazzard. All the trucks packed into 2 lanes with 4 wheelers merging and crossing all the lanes in one big sweep or stopping on the get on ramp. Everyone slowed to about 50. Took about 20 miles or so for it all to clear up and roll smooth again.

Also now that the restriction is in place, it seems like not as many 4 wheelers are in the hammer. Because they are all running 55-60 in the center lane. With a 60-62 truck running right next to them in the granny lane. But man I gotta go so I hit the hammer lane and run until I can find a spot to roll 68-70 down the center.
Its just getting more and more congested. Plus we pay taxes on that lane as well!!!

They GOT IT BASS ACKWARDS lol 4 wheelers don't belong in the LEFT LANES... the lane restriction should be NO Vehicles under 5T GVW IN Left 2 LANES..

Trucks should cruse as FAR AWAY FROM MERGING TRAFFIC AS POSSIBLE it would probably Prevent hundreds of accidents a year..

Then you have the 62mph truck racing the 62.5mph truck... so you have to wait forever to pass. Throw a few hills in there and forget it. May as well risk the hammer ticket. (Yeah its worth it to me. 30 minutes can throw off my whole day. The differance between getting 7 to 8 loads vs. 6 or 5. Which adds up to some good $$$)

I am going to apologize to you and others now i have done that but it makes the difference for us as well, my New 387 is governed at 69mph so i don't take up too much time in the hammer lane any more, lol the freightliner in my signature did 69 as well they took me out and put me into a volvo governed at 65 i hated it!

Same senario in Indiana and Chicago on i94 and it makes it for a long drive through town when all the cars are merging onto the highway. Of course all three lanes get packed with big trucks when traffics get congested. Also that Star isnt governed so it will do 80 easy but have never really gotten on it and tried to top it out. Fastest Ive gotten it going is 75 thru Missouri

dude i drive a 63 MPH slug. do you know how aggravating it is to already be slow and have someone going even slower in front of you? i will jump out there to pass and if i am making progress i will complete the pass (eventually LOL) but if i am not gaining ground i will drop back in line.
i actually believe the truck being passed ought to let off a little and speed the process. i know i do, unless climbing a hill, then you are on your own LOL
now, on to the topic, not many places aggresivley enforce those lane restrictions unless you just hang out there too long

There's a solution to the pass-time situation, where one Big truck is attempting to pass a 1/2 mph slower 75 foot long Big truck, ---- and when applied is a good sign which Big truck drivers are actually professionals.

Driver A is being passed by Driver B --- "A" is in the far right lane, "B" is passing on the left side.
It's taking forever, --- "B" can't seem to get 'er done, but "A" knows that if "B" doesn't do something different soon, he's corking the flow of traffic.

"A" --- being the professional backs out of it, --- slows down, and lets "B" merge back over, --- usually unable to maintain the same speed that "A" was going before "B" attempted the pass.
This would be a good time for a PROFESSIONAL coffee break.
Take the next exit.
Check the pie menu while your there.
That "B" driver mighta just done y'all a favor.

HWY 395 north bound through Reno has signs reading
Through Trucks Use Left Lanes.

Works fine.
Big trucks can maintain reasonable highway speed while the mergers and gawkers can do their thing in the right lane.

Ohio was confusing though.
On a highway, signs indicate Big Truck speed limit at 55, cars 65.
Sign reads: Slower Traffic Use Right Lane.
Ok.
A couple of miles later, another sign reads:
Big Trucks Use Left Lane Next ____ Miles.
*(To Even Out Road Wear)*

If a Big truck runs slower, in the left lane, is that breaking the law?
It sure is interesting trying to keep an eye on the general motoring public --- now passing a great speed on the RIGHT side, and in your blind spots.

Shux Howdy!
If those 4-wheeler drivers weren't so safety minded that they extend their arms out the door windows and indicate we're NUMBER ONE, with their index finger, we'd NEVER be able to see 'em down there.
Or know what they REALLY think about Big truck drivers.

Now, when y'all see the sign that reads something like:
Trucks Without Brakes --- Avoid Stopping At Rest Area,.....
You're probably in Oregon on I-5 --- north bound.

You may also read signs:
ROCKS
45MPH.

How many "rocks" do y'all ever see driving on the highways?

I live in the Land O' Fruits and Nutz where Big trucks are restricted to the right lane --- or laneS if there are multiple lanes --- and always in the way for those merging on and off the highway --- and with a split-speed limit, that's a recipe for disaster.
IMO

Statistics seem to agree.
