| Good question! My husband has the same issue and we have tried them all! Goes through them like crazy so have been buying the cheaper ones (blue and white striped I think) from Farm and Fleet in bulk and just tosses them.. Can add up quickly though.... Anxious to hear replies from the veterans though. |

| I buy the leather ones from wally world. About 8 or 9 bucks a pair. Wells Lamont work 2500 heavy duty cowhide. Extra palm wear. What happens is the bungees is what eats the fingers up. Try to not pinch your glove in between the hook and the rubrail. I get several months out of a pair. If they get wet they get hard, but when you put them on and use them they loosen up.

| Elkskin in Wells Lamont doesn't get hard, and there are enough elk ranches that the gloves cost similar to cowhide, in the winter, I use rubber coated gloves because the others get soaked and very cold in no time, I buy Kinco gloves in pvc and rubber coated. Try to keep from pinching them and they last better than leather. I once watched a young flat-bedder use a homemade hook to put the straps on, that would prevent pinching. I use a tarp with a rubber cord stretched to hooks, it's a specialty trailer and the tarps roll up and store on the roof.there is no tool that works with that, the cords are easily broken if stretched too much. They are always wet with salt water during the winter, and that is hard on leather or cloth gloves. Also very cold and hard on hands if you get it on them. |

| I use both WL and Kinko leather gloves in summer, and Green Ape or similar cotton gloves in winter. Rubber coated when its wet. When you wear holes in the fingers of the leather ones a quick fix is to smear a couple thin layers of GOOP silicone on them, letting dry in between coats. As long as the gloves aren't greasy it sticks pretty well and I've had some that lasted almost a year, by that time they are good for wearing to grease once or twice then toss em. |

| Yeah they do. If they get wet they will. That is what I use. Well, you might be talking about a different leather tho. I doubt if the ones I use are elk.
