| "Future historians will note that American society peaked in the late 1960s" I think the theory of peaking in the 60's has more to do with the TV and expansion of peoples paradigms Before the TV people lived such isolated lives Quote:

| "We were told that success does not matter if you are black or white, male or female, and while the political successes of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and even Sarah Palin seemed to vindicate this philosophy, it does not obviate the fact that opportunity for all does not change the fact that most of us are doomed to lives of obscure mediocrity." I would say 80% of the people in this country are HAPPY with lives of obscure mediocrity... which usually includes 2 cars in the garage, at least 1 TV in the house, a computer, a cell phone, a microwave (besides a regular oven), washing/drying machines, multiple grown-up toys, etc. Materially speaking we are privileged. Beyond material things there is opportunity around every corner for those who are willing to strive for more then "obscure mediocrity". The people who are happy, are so because of what they DO have in their lives. The people who are not happy, are not, because of what they WISH they DID have in their lives. Be thankful for what you already have in life. |

| I am thankful that I live in a country where I have the ability to aquire the things that I have, and to go after the things that I want. I don't feel that I am living a mediocre life. I have so much potential as a lady truckdriver. I am grateful that I don't live in a third world country where they don't even have wells or running water, let alone trucks. |
