But they were forcing everbody to e logs. I was one of the last hold outs. no elog

You're bringing your own truck on? Double the revenue then. Be sure to do the percentage pay scale instead of mileage, so you can work smarter not harder. You can move the truck around a parking lot. I would imagine the elogs would be a pain if you pulled general freight mostly, but I haven't pulled a general freight load in at least 5 months.

you will hear drivers bellyache about not making any money, but usually, if you listen to them for five minutes, they will tell you why they don't make money. It's all about time management. Think of it like being a stripper...as long as they are throwing money at you, keep your butt up on the stage. Some guys think, "Hey, I made a good check...I can take it easy!" That's the time when you need to hustle. When the money slows down, THEN take it easy.

Elogs have flaws too. Learned this when mine took a dump. There's usually a little black box in the side box area that controls all of it...and tells the computer when the truck is rolling or stopped etc. and if the JBUS cable is unhooked from this box u can drive 500mph for as far as u wanna go and still be in the 'bunk'. When the company (not ATS) installed the used unit in my truck the cables were reused and kept messing up all the time like starting my day in the middle of a 10hr break n stuff like that. Technical finally told me to disconnect the cable and just punch in my status manually. One morning I forgot to change my duty status and drove bout 200 mi before I caught it. Logs still on sleeper berth and the last city where I slept the night before! Lol! So I fixed the logs and kept that little bit of info in the back of my head. Came in handy more than once. Could post up @ the ts couple miles from shipper/receiver waiting on appt time and not have to change duty status till loaded or empty and actually ready to roll out. Call me a cheat but saved my butt more than once when the s/r drug their feet with my load.

Not over there just been looking into them. I'm workin out in the oil patch right now haulin frac sand. Hence the name lol. But my experience with the elogs comes from a time when I used to haul freight and the company accidentally told me how to disable them.
