home time

Sorry BIgDaddy, forgot the second part of your question yeaterday. Hometime, well remember my first trip out was cut short for a funeral in Canada. They got me home in time to go, not a lot of wiggle room but I can't complain. So this time out I'm trying to give them a little more. I am not asking to go homoe until 2-20. This is my choice not their demand or anything. I will be trying to get 4-5 days off though. My son has his playoff's for hockey that week. I ave put in for hometime sometiime in the first week out each time. I think they ask for 3-5 days notice if possible. Family emergencies not withstanding. Now to the truck issue. I think the problem of poor perf. in the hills was from BOTH fuel filters being shot. Had to get it fixed after my last stop yest., I'll let you know if it makes any diff., I'm heading for CA right now. The loads aren't comparablel in weight but the Rockies tend to be a bit bigger than those Northeastern ones!

hometime

BigDaddy, just checked my "operations handbook", it states:" Policy for routing drivers home: 21 days out.
: 1 day at home for every week out.
: notify fleet manager one week before wanting to be
home.
Like I said earlier, I send in my request within my first week out. I figure that as a new driver it can't hurt to be toward the top of the list. I also keep forgetting to ask about your ring, what exactly is it? It looks really cool!

catch-up

Ok, so after unloading my last skid steer in Bangor I was sent back to upstate NY to drop my trailer and grab a preloaded one. Took electrical units all the way out to Rialto,CA. Made that ok, then got sent to the city of Anaheim to pick-up empty cable reels. I was to bring them to Santa Maria were I would be unloaded and then re-loaded. Well I only had three sets of coil racks, they had five reels. And they were too big for my little 4' 4x4's. Of Course they had nothing to help, so I dropped the trailer and went to a local lumber yard to buy 10 8' 4x4's, some to be used with my coil racks, some to build my own coil rack. I got it done but not in time to head out for the drop, and this was the one Sat. in the month that they weren't working. So I had to spend the weekend at our Fontana yard. At least I got my reset. After unloding/loading Monday, I headed to Tacoma. That went fine. I got lucky and had a load w/in 15 minutes of unloading, and it was very close. Now I have a military tool trailer to deliver in Beaumont. Was supposed to deliver today but it won't happen. I 've run myself out of hours. Wasted 1/2 a day trying to take I90, Snoqualme was closed, and heard that so were the ones after that. I called my fleet manager and got re-routed down I5 to I-10. Yes, I know there are other ways to go but my manager said to just avoid the snow. He had a "few" people stuck in places and I think he was just a bit frustrated. Hey, their fuel. Anyways, I should deliver before noon tomorrow. Wish me luck, it's my first time ever with an RGN! I am due for some hometime soon, the 20th, so we'll see how they route me, i'm expecting at least one more run. Keep in mind that I, not ATS, chose to stay out an extra week since they got me home for the funeral I had to attend. And it fit better with what was going on at home.

Great job! I take my road test this week and will either be going to MILLIS on the 3rd or possibly Prime inc for Flatbed for the 25th. I'm still checking out prime. There is another company in my area that I might be able to get some experience with but will run teams with an experienced independent or O/O.
CFI/COnway said couldnt bring me out due to training on a 28ft trailer.I told them I'd get training on 48 & 53ft they said only if it was a full course at a school not a refresher. I drove a 53 ft before in the truck stop and backed it up. Hey, thats how it goes,I'll find something. Any info on Prime Flat?

prime time

BigDaddy, check out the thread by SteveandLo, I believe thats right. It is titled "time for prime" I think. it's not about flatbedding but does have a lot of stuff on their time with Prime. They may be able to get you more spedific info.. I have liked what I have read about Prime. Ok, now for today. The Port of Beaumont was MUCH different than the Port of Baltimore! I got there no problem, got directed by the guards to the staging area. Then waited for almost an hour. Nothing. So I went back and tomake a long story short, they didn't see me, right were I was supposed to be. Hmmmm. All this to find out that the ship had already left. Would have been nice if my call had been returned, yesterday. I wouldn't have had to leave at 2am to get there today. Anyways, now I have been re-routed to SC. Doesn't really bother me, does screw up the load I was to get in Louisianna to get home. We'll have to see how this all works out. At least I was able to pick up a few extra hours while waiting for this all to get worked out.
