Well, last week was thin, because I went through home for a whopping 36 hours (that makes 72 since Labor Day!) and this week ended up being pretty thin also, just because - well- just because I guess...

So, I'm at Cloud now, and here has been today:

Went to Truck Sales this afternoon in an effort to avoid West. Stayed there a few hours, got a PM done, and a fault code on the engine cleared.

Accepted a load out west for next week with good tarp pay, etc. Figured YES..next week will be a really good one.

As soon as I got on the highway to go get my RGN from West, the check engine light started blinking again. Going through the safety lane at West, they decided they want to change some tires. I asked about the fault codes again, Erain says I have to go back to Cloud in the morning, and he has no idea why the codes didn't show up on the road test Sales did.

So, 7 am tomorrow morning, and I'm back at square 1 at truck sales.

I'll probably lose my load out west also.

Unreal.

I delivered my OD Granite load in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning about four hours earlier than my appointment time. Brooklyn wasn't so bad. I have been hearing horror stories about NYC ever since I became a driver.

There were four of use delivering OD roofs to a cementary. Despite starting at different times, we all met up on the road, partly because we couldn't run PA on Sunday.

We crossed at the George Washington Bridge Monday evening. We had an escort, which made it much easier. We took a circuitious route through Brooklyn to avoid further tools. We were dropped off at our destination about 2200. The came and got us, one truck at a time about 0800. It was a crane unload from the street, it went really fast. I was the last unloaded.

I had to find my own way out, I chose the cheapest and paid to cross one bridge and bounced down to our yard in Bridge Water, NJ. Got a load the next day.

Despite losing time waiting at the GW Bridge and waiting for a load until the next day it was still a profitable week.

I found out that I have been officially bumped up to Class 3. Now to work on class 2.

Wow. So you were OD going into NYC? I've never done that, and I've been in the city two or 3 times already. That had to pay pretty darn good, I'd guess. I usually get decent ARB, Bridge, mileage, and fuel on it. An OD pay on top would be cool. PM with the numbers on that would ya?

Crossing the bridges into nyc OD at night is always easy, I've always had an escort due to size, but when off loaded and ready to get the heck out of there is the fun part 2-3 pm oh what fun, the city/roads are set up for 40' trailers and the 4 wheels what can say!!
Question at ATS do the loads crossing the bridges pay extra/additional for your tolls? OD tolls are around $ 80-100

I never went through their sharecropper program, So I do not know what they tell you or the others signing up for it.

My profit is way off from last year and I'm still hanging in there.
And I will tell you not even knowing you that my cost per mile is a whole lot more than yours, But I am squeaking by in these tough times.
I never said bouncing home was a good bussiness idea.
You stated lack of home time.
So I stated just bounce home then.
Heck I've bounced farther than that for loads...

So if you want to start a pissing contest you better start filling up to be able to piss like a big dog and not some puppy
damn i thought ats was a good company, guess thats what i get for thinking.---southernpride

He was quoting some of my one line comments to another driver and thinks things are not good here.

I was just kinda picking at the other driver.
Things here are just like any other company, some things good some bad.
I work H.H. The other driver works general freight I believe.
Apples and oranges.
Yes my work has been slow compared to 2008.
I'm still hanging in there. Just trying to ride out this bad year and get ready for the new year.

Well, I had a good week last week, I'll have a so so week this week, and next week, I just want to make it home for Thanksgiving, and I've been PROMISED that I'll have a load immediately Monday headed that way.

Doesn't really matter, as I will be home for the holiday even if the sky falls! LOL.

Well enjoy your holiday home time. Honest
We are booked to fly home the first part of Dec.
But I think we may need to change that due to me needing one more good load to cover my bills for Jan.
If I can pull that off then we won't come back untill Feb. next year.
