Sorry you thought my opinions were a personal attack because they do not agree with yours. I just find it sad that a company treats it's employees better, like your husband, when they are willing to cook the books and dress up their equipment, and punish drivers who won't by starving them out.

Because it is not required, perhaps? But since you ask lets see, I got out of the military in 1985 and drove my first truck about 2 years later so that would be about 20 years and counting with about half that time as a OTR driver, 5 as a local O/O and 5 as a local driver.

Huh? I have never owned or even driven a Pete so why would I care if Arrow has them or not? Personally I like a Frtshakers maneuverability and a Western Stars looks over Pete's. Currently I drive a Volvo day cab but hey, I'm home almost every night sleeping in my king size bed so I can live with it.

There are lots of views being expressed on these boards that may not conform to your beliefs so it would be foolish to get so easily offended by opinions or perceptions that do not agree with yours.

I'm glad you and your husband like Arrow, but you would have to have blinders on or not know any better to think as a whole they are a good flatbed carrier.

I drove for arrow for a year and half and i agree. With arrow, you do sit alot and their equipment is so out dated its rediculous! You also really have to watch your milage pay. I know people make mistakes, but they need to learn how to add. I fought with them every payday!!!

..sounds like this company has way to many issues to deal with to want to work for them.. from what I have read on other posts TMC has way less complaints about pay, hometime or their DM's.. why would anyone in their right mind go long haul flat-bedding to earn $300 a week when u can get that flippin burgers, get free meals & be home every night! The trucking industry is due for a major overhaul & maybe now that freight is drying up due to the economy these marginal trucking companies will dry up & blow away!

..and reading another thread started by Optimu5 Prime back in Jan '08 when he was accepted by ARROW, detailing his experience going thru training up until he got his own truck.. well that was up until Mar. of last year & that was his last post, but since then there has been nothing, that's over 9 months! I wonder what ever happened to the excited & optimistic ARROW driver who got his own truck never to be heard from again? Maybe he is having too much fun tarping or waiting for his next load in sub-freezing temps to report back on his PDA like he did so religiously until he got his own truck? ..hmmmm, wonder if he's still driving for ARROW now?!

I SERIOUSLY doubt Optimus Prime is still with arrow. Anyone with a few brain cells would see through their lines of bull and leave soon after starting. Optimus seemed like a bright fella, he's moved on to greener pastures. I'd bet my left "jewel" on it.

Arrow has been in the process of going under for at least the past couple years. I noticed it last year, everyone else noticed it lately. Old overweight trailers from the 1970's will NOT allow you to be competitive in this environment. Add losing some important clients in Tulsa and failure to pay their bills, it's only a matter of time.

maddawg, I enjoyed arrow trucking. I had more freedom with them than swift. But there is a lot more work to be done than just loading and unloading. It just depends on whether or not you can handle strapping and tarping in any wheather conditions. I would try arrow trucking first.

i was watching the tulsa news on wednesday 2/4/09 and they said arrow was laying off office personnel. so that can't be good for them!!

I wouldn't start at Arrow. If you want to flatbed, go to a company who will teach you flat securement PROPERLY and with MODERN equipment. There are still many out there. TMC, Maverick, Maverick Specialized (starts at .41/mi), Passmore/Prime, Meltonk, etc. You dont have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to start as a flatbedder. You have MANY more viable options. Arrow is like the "Swift" of flatbed companies, dont sell yourself short.

Swift HAS its' own flatbed division.
