Yea, been working Houston local fo about 5 months, work was really good at first, but when David Spencer quit to start his own company he took all our sales people and all our big accounts with him. We went from doing 15-20 loads a week to 5-7 loads a week. The line haul guys I talk to not doing much better, they are running alot of regional runs. I don't think this company will ever get out of the hole they have dug for themselves.

Wow. Not sure how you got that many loads per week then. When I left in May, I was out of the Dallas terminal, but got more loads from Houston than I did Dallas. I was lucky to pull 4 little 100 or less mile loads per week then. Best loads I got were when I left home in Charlotte and pulled something out toward Dallas or Houston. The BEST load was from Laredo (frame rails) pulled to Mount Holly, NC. I told them I would pull back and forth from NC to Texas all day if they wanted me to. Even begged them to send me out of the region. Out to West TX, AZ, NM, or even CO. Never got any responses to those requests. Got tired of trying to live on $300/week as well as feed/house a family, so I walked. Unfortunately, I haven't driven since.

Arrow

You know i read through this whole thread every line. And i heard Arrow doesn't care Arrow doesn't this Arrow Doesn't that. They incourage you to run illegal. People run down a person cause they ran 4200 or something miles a week and only brought home 1,100 that week did you ever think he had advances out of that he had scales he had showers he had tax and i imagine insurance. But no lets jump all over it because i just cam out of driving school and i want to make top dollar with no experience and drive a new truck and be home every night and every holiday and every time i have a hang nail. Face it folks your not cut out to be OTR truckers quite your crying and go back to your desk job or pull your big boy pants up and get on with job at hand of driving a truck Now if every driver out there worried about every little detail about what was and wasn't legal there would never be any freight hauled and you would never make a dime. If you run a log book 100% purely legal you will starve to death because you log 15 minutes for a pre trip you can not do a item by item pre trip in 15 minutes on a truck and trailer. First you will have to disconnect it to check the king pin bolts and the jaws on the king pin plate that takes you 5 minutes right there then the bleed down check that's 2 minutes of waiting then you have to pump the brakes down and build them back up again. so if you want to talk about legal its all or none so don't do anything half way. I am sorry you were delusional about the industry but people like Arrow made this industry back in the day when i broke in with them 90% of you wouldn't have passed the test to wear a green jacket and be called a watermelon cause back then we were some running son of a guns we hauled more freight and made more miles than most companies could count. I ran many a 4800 mile weeks by my self and some 5000 as long as it looked good when they were turned in that's all that mattered but you made money. and oh i was making .20 cent to start back then and tarps were free. so my rant is over but grow up you can't have your cake and eat it too you either have a work ethic or you don't and i see from this thread most don't. And oh by the way any of y'all still running for arrow you tell Dougie (That would be the son Doug) Ridgerunner said hey from the desert in Iraq.

I can appreciate everything y'all done back in the day, but times have changed. I am still with Arrow, don't like it, but I am not a quitter. When the oppertunity presents itself to me to better myself, I will take it. Alot of people whine about different things, and i guess that is what this board is for, so I respect your opinion on drivers today, but i do not have to agree with you. Arrow is not the same company as it was back then, there is alot that could be better and that is what we are discussing. I may not have been driving long, but I have been around this industry since I was a baby, and there have been more changes for the worse than the better. And that is all I got to say about that.

Those 15-20 loads came out of the port to surrounding pipe yards here in Houston. We used to turn 3-4 sometimes more a day, we would get 2-3 ships a week and stay busy, When David left, he took most of the boats with him too.

We also got some good news today on the QC, Arrow is cutting all the trucks back to 62mph. So now we can get passed by everyone, so good news for you Swift, SNI, and JB, one more trucking company you can pass on the highway.
