No offence but with all the WONDERING your doing and no business plan your headed for DOOM.

Your looking at $ on a BRAND NEW tractor when you have no idea what a used Werner tractor is yet and already think they are CON MEN.

Have had a few used WERNER tractors , as had my oldest son , were decent $ and served us well , did the $ part of the deal elesewhere.

first practical miles screw you cause there normaly off buy anywhere from 100 miles on up,depending on whitch calculator their useing lol and which map their looking at lol ! as for their lease???? how is it a lease if your getting a loan and the next question is if it dont work out a werner can you walk away with your truck and take it else where with you,,,you should if you have a loan on it,,and drag any box ,reffer or flatbed if you choose but ,i think you better have some money in the bank for your tags ,ins and possible authity if you choose,,just seems like thers alot of unanserd questions here,,,check it out befor you dive off the deep end, i to love the job and love the travel but hate the sitting (sitting ) meaning waiting on a load, the only way i would go back out is if i owned my own and had my own authity,,this way if i dont like it i can choose ,,, my point being trust your judgement, do the numbers work it from every angle,,,,,,,even though you love it do do it to say you own your own and end up a casulty of the industry!!!! cross your ts and dot your i,s and cover you behind as best you can wish you the best of luck

A 2006 EX WERNER 379 , 475 Cat 13 Speed 260" WB with 432,000 miles on it is going for $47,500.00 list , new left over 379 specd pretty close to a WERNER unit is in the $128,000 to $131,000 price range.

Figure out all your costs per mile ( everything including air freshners ) then divide by .79 and that is the minimum amount you can work for and hope to still be an O/O next year.

Been doing this quite a while trucks / trailers paid for ( not old worn out stuff ) and even in tough economic times I still make a profit.

I bought my truck from Larry Lamer (Great Guy, in Omaha now) fleet truck sales, in phoenix, had to stay leased to them until it was paid off. I chose to leave after two years, so I then pursued other financing. Found it through a great leasing company in phoenix. Looking back, I would have skipped the Werner/AMEX Financing, and went straight to Park Western Leasing.

Being an O/O is not about buying the biggest large car with the most chrome on it! Buying NEW?!! for a first truck!! You really want that kinda payment? No mention of a business plan, OMG!!
Ok, the fuel will kill you, buy a used truck, maybe an aero that gets at least 6.5mpg, get a warranty, get a clue or you will be out of biz in 6 months. Do not buy/lease a truck from the same company that you will be driving for, or your testicles will be forever theirs. There is a lot of great info on this board from great O/Os to help you and as others have said "take a breath" sit down and read and learn. Not trying to kill your dreams but there is a right way and a wrong way. You have been a company driver for a year (on your profile) listen to people like 'FLATBED' that have done this for 20-30 years and know how to make a profit long term.

:biggrin_25514:phroziac, I looked in the Truck Paper & their listing brand new 379's & classic xl's for 125000+, for 05=08's 45000 to 84000. If you want to be an o/o thats fine, but please do your homework. :yes2557:

Would it help if a few more of us insulted you..........??????????

All 550 did was tell you the truth.......granted, he IS an "IN YOUR FACE" type of guy.....but......he tells the truth.

If you can't handle the truth......no matter how it goes against your current plan......maybe you just aren't ready to be an O/O.

OK......Another insult to add to your list.......

STAY AWAY FROM WERNER AT ALL COST.

    There's a reason that they're called......"The Big Blue Screw"

    big red

we have seen this time and again over the last 4 years

they come on, asking for advice, then pay no attention to the advice that is here, and posted

then come back in a year telling us all how much we suck for not warning them that its a hard road to hoe.............

I, personally, have given up on it.........if they want the info, its here, you just have to do a little digging to find it.......I'm personally, tired of answering the same question every 3 months
