thats where you have your own authority but you can sign up with landstar to pull their loads. JB Hunt does the same thing too, and actually pays livable rates as opposed to what they do to people who lease onto the company.

Problem is that its a lot of paperwork and youll need a few grand for it. $300 for operating authority, but before it can be approved you have to have cargo insurance and commercial auto insurance...

    youll need a trailer too

Okay, so when I asked them what the reason was for turning me down, then they should have told me? So if I call them back and say they turned me down, and I need to reason why so I can correct the issue if it is something that isn't supposed to be there, then they should give it to me?
I think I am going to do that then, because I still can't believe it.

I checked all my credit reports already, there is 1 thing on them that belongs to a family member of the same name, and is theres, and it is not good. Maybe that is what the problem is? And if that is the case, I am going to be a very mad person.

Credit reporting agencies are evil, how do they not even check a SSN to see if a BOAT IS MINE OR NOT? F'n dumb ##### if you ask me!

Anyway, I am working on that now, but I am going to call Landstar and see if they will tell me what the reason is now. Thanks

(oh by the way, no accidents and 1 ticket, so I don't think that could be it, but I will find out)

I realize its required but far as I know for a very long time is to NOT tell you why its denied.

Getting a lawyer to force them to tell is going to cost money. Money that they know is very tight for most folks. Money that they are betting on most folks not spending.

So from reading in between the lines here, someone with the same name as you bought a boat and it got repoed? That could very well be the problem. DAC doesnt check SSN numbers either.

I kind of figured that could be possible, which is why i mentioned the free annual credit reports if he didnt already know that. What the hell is the advantage of them lying about it?

Have you seen your DAC, no telling what a former employer put on there. Little people with too much power are able to put whatever they feel like on your DAC, you need to check.

Mercer is the wrong place to be with a van. I was an O/O there for 6 1/2 years... did great with my flatbed but starved to death after I had to quit doing flatbed work because of a bad shoulder. Great outfit and they treat you very well.

I wonder when Landstar went to a 65/35 split...that sucks. With the internet load boards and a few personal contacts a guy really doesn't need to lease on to these big outfits anymore... j

In relation to your last comment.......

In late summer of 05 I went from being full independent to being lease to Landstar.

While working for LS I made more money and worked many less hours than before.
Before LS my brother was dispatching me and running the office end of things. The only thing he wanted to see on a log book was 600 plus miles and 10 plus hrs on the driving line.
Nothing else mattered. Many were the 110 to 120 hr weeks. The first two months at LS being tightly restricted to 70 hrs I felt like I was lazy. Then I got lazy like most of the other LS drivers. :biggrin_25523:

The load boards carry A LOT of cheap freight.

Not everyone gets 65/35, some get 74/26 some get 77/23. Every one seems to know all about LS, but they should get their facts strait.
Hauling off the LS broker board you are getting 80% or less of the amount billed the customer and some is from other brokers (cut twice)

Which Landstar should know is double brokering which is against the law.
