    LS uses 100% hazmat certified fleet as a selling point to potential customers or thats what the guys in the Lewistown, PA orientation center told me when I came back on board..

    Very true. I know people that work off their broker board and they consistently get 80%. A lot of it depends where the loads pick up, where they are going and negotiating skills.

    Did the LANDSTAR thing for quite a few years , made good $ , learnt a lot , made lot of contacts ( for when I went on my own ) .

    At least LANDSTAR pays promptly , and after you learn the ropes and are self motivated you can do ok.

    Groundpounder-I know you've been with landstar for a while whats your overall take on them for someone who wants to start out as an o/o? Do they offer programs to help new o/o's get their first truck or are they geared more towards people with a little bit of experience being an o/o? Thanks

    ps im pretty sure i was you a few weeks ago on I81 in pa near the 120 you run through there a lot?

    First of all I drive for an agent so I'm on a complete different deal my O/O days ended in 2001..we are our own company leased on with LS..

    LS is what you make it really, learning the ropes quickly will benefit you the most..At first it will most likely be very difficult learning the freight lanes and where the good freight is the northeast based on what I've seen is pretty weak...Stay out of new england and upstate NY there isn't much coming out that pays anything....

    As for programs none that I know of but certain dealers do give discounts for LS O/O's I think maybe Rush Peterbilt might be one ?? If you give the gals in recruiting a call they will be more than happy to help you out, LS has the LLCAP program or whatever they call it that offers discounts on everything from computers to your cell phone...Based on what I've seen help is only a phone call away with this outfit..They want you to succeed and basically make them money...

    Yeah on the I-81 I'm out of the Binghamton area so I'm up and down it a lot..

    Some of our other members that are leased on with their own trucks are probably better qualified to answer your questions I let the boss man worry about the details I just hold the steering wheel now a days !!
