For quite some time, I've been wanting to drive the rig to up Alaska. Finally found the load that made it possible. Temporary permits for Sask, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, and Alaska, cost me a BUNDLE. Fuel was $4.50/ US/Gallon in northern BC and $4.00 in Tok Alaska. All in all it was truely an awesome trip. I'll spare the rest of the details and just post some pics, although I don't take very good quality photos. Anywhoooo..
In northern British Columbia on the way up
GPS. Somewhere in BC on the way up.....(grin)

Somewhere, I forget
The Tok scale was closed (construction), as they were turning into a super coop complete with a new inspection barn. So they sent the troopers (who in Alaska double as diesel bears) out to roam the roads in converted RVs and set up in rests areas, which are basicaly paved pullouts with porta potties. I got a level clean III from this guy, in absolutely the middle of nowhere BFE.
Fairbanks, at the Tesoro truckstop. (loose term there LOL)
Fairbanks. I paid a visit to Santa Clause.
Here's one of Santas reindeer, tho I'm unsure if it's Donner or Blitzen

Cool pics! I was wondering if you was gonna post them up here.
Couple questions.....
Did you take you spread up and have any problems with the canadian providences with it?
Did you get anything back and did it pay any good? I don't want numbers just curious. I know the stuff going up usually pays really well. -
cool pictures, i remember you posting that you wanted to go up that way glad you were finally able to

Shhhhhh he's hunting for a push guard for the next trip. Did you see the size of those buffalo???

AWESOME PICS!! Thanks so much for sharing. I'd love the opportunity to go to Alaska and glad you were able to do it. Pretty cool pics from Carlisle showing the Ice Road Truck yard - we love watching that. Couldn't talk my husband into driving up there with me, tho. However, maybe I'll just see if Lisa wants to team and I'll join her for a year - learn to do push trucking also. Ha ha! Though the money sounds great, the chance of being buried in avalanche doesn't sound much fun. I'll stick to find trucks their loads since I semi-retired from driving.
Loved the pictures and so glad you shared! -
Glad you liked the pics.
BHsW,
You arent kidding about the bull bar. I was the only truck up there without one. On the way up I almost hit a bison that was on the road at night.
I spent a little time at the kenworth dealership in Whitehorse, and talking to one of the sales reps, bull bars are standard equipment that get installed on almost every single truck they sell.

Thanks for the pics WM, I would like to make that drive, at least once. How pricey are those bull bars ?

Hubby wants one, simply because he's been backed into twice. And the hood just can't seem to go a year without damage.
If I remember right, those things are pretty pricey.
