Fairly broad question. I haul sand as do others here. Some specifics are in order.

Break it down, because nobody can answer all your questions the way you worded it.

You will need a pneumatic trailer or pull one for whoever you are leased to. You will also need a PTO & blower on you truck to unload your sand. Probably 2 25' hoses & 1 15' hose. Mechanical ability to change out the pads on the trailer (sand is hard on them) & also be able to work on your blower if need be. That should get you started.

You got to have customers, little different dealing with oil company's. Their is a lot of competition out their along with some pretty big fleets. I would find a company to lease to and learn the business before jumping in and start your own when you know nothing about the business.

Get in touch with the Service Companies (Halliburton, BJ, etc.) to find out if they use any Contract Trucks or strictly their own. You might also try the supplier of the sand, someone has to deliver the stuff.

All the major frac companies use outside contractors for sand, etc.

Halliburton is one of the customers we haul for.

You might try L & B Transport in Port Allen, La. I think they have a terminal in the Houston area. Also ANR. No sure where they are located.
