One thing I like about looking at Baskin trucks online. they all look like what you see is what you get. I would rather browse a lot with trucks as is ,then to look at one all detailed & not knowing what they may be hiding. I have looked at some of theirs, with the bedding & fast food garbage bags still in it, bald mixed matched tires clearly shown, e.t.c. much better than the ones shown with water dripping all over trying to blend in the blemishes.

You made a mistake on letting him jerk you around... I was pissed when they sold that Pete out from under me but I wound up getting a newer Pete for the same $$$.... I guess I won after all. -
A mans word is still accepted by some people. When I bought my truck I looked at it the week before. Told them I wanted it and would be back the next weekend. We shook hands and told him I wanted to look it over some more. Nothing signed, no paperwork - just each other shacking on the deal.
While I was inside someone else came into look at the truck. When he was told it was sold he offered a higher price. Saleman said no. But if I didn't return on Saturday he could come back on Monday.
After listening to that I even offered a deposit and they wouldn't take it.
That is how business should be done.icsheeple, DThompsonNGI, BeN DaViS and 1 other person Thank this. -
I just purchased a 93 377 from Chuck at Don Baskin and this is my 2 cents..

1993 Peterbilt 377 $5,500 63 in Flat Top Sleeper 60 series 430 HP 9 speed over drive 370 rears Good Rubber Runs great was verbally told it would only need a few tires and maybe breaks to pass DOT
Advertisement discrepancies.
60 series 450 HP 9 speed direct drive 410 rears only 3 tires will pass DOT
I talked to Chuck several days before I went to get the truck and specifically asked what it would need to go through DOT inspection. He told me a few tires and maybe breaks. I then called back the morning I was leaving from Eastern PA to go get the truck to make shore it was still there. I started the drive and was about 10 or 12 hours in to the drive when I received a text from Chuck to call him and I did. He then informed me they did not have the title. I researched a little and found I can get the title with a little $ and some leg work. I called him back yet again and one of my questions I asked be before I asked again, what will the truck need to go through DOT inspection he told me yet again a few tires and maybe breaks. I thought about it a bit more and texted him about the price and he told me he would reduce to $5,000 because of the title. I decided to keep driving to get the truck. I get there and noticed some parts missing. I questioned this and was told that sometimes people take stuff off of the trucks. I was stupid at this point and buy the truck. I made it home with it after a few minor issues.
I take it for DOT inspection at the local TA truck stop and they hand me a list with 23 items that need replaced or repaired before it will pass. (6 tires, number 1 and 2 U joints, 2 steering shaft U joints, missing hood latch, both windshields cracked, 4 wheel studs broke off, No reverse light, spot mirror cracked, service valve leaks, bad MV3 valve, Torque rods, just to name a few).
So I emailed them and got NO reply. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. Don Buskins response was simply buyer signed an as is statement.
My question here, What about the add discrepancies, and the statements made about the DOT inspection. Can a dealer say whatever they want to get you to sing on the line and then tell you, you are just another sucker?
I know the truck was cheap and should have known but what they told me should still be part of the deal regardless of the as is because to me as is also includes what you tell me comes with the truck and passing DOT minus a FEW tires and maybe breaks becomes part of what the truck IS there for part of the AS IS. Not to mention they are lying to the BBB. The told them they reduced the truck from $6,500 to $5,000 because of the missing parts. Funny nothing was mentioned about the missing parts till after the $5,000 price was agreed to. And the listed advertised price was only ever $5,500 in the first place. It was only reduced by $500 because of the trouble for the title.
Lucky for me that I have a printout of the add and pictures of my cell phone with the text messages between Chuck and myself showing he is not even close to telling the truth
Thats just my 2 cents on DON BASKIN.God1st Thanks this.
