Freighthauler I took your advise and went to Rip-off dot com. First let me say that if you have any education at all you can read for youself that most of those write-ups were from the same person. Seeing your from Atlanta and the post on Rip-off was from Atlanta I would be willing to bet my next paycheck it is you writing most of those complaints. Seeing also this is your first post here I doubt you will even be able to respond to this post im putting in now.
This one here is one that did catch my attention.

The 1st mistake was buying a Volvo(sorry guys just sayin it like it is)
I know because i drive one too. My Volvo was Brand new when I got it
If you go and read the complaint on "rippoff" it reads like the laundry list of all the parts that are breaking down are all the parts that have been breaking down on my truck too. LOL and I have 2009 Volvo D11 Ijnector coppers are what its in the shop for right now, I ve lost idler pully X2, the alt, the turbo, the a/c compressor, the instrament cluster in the dash, and 4 of Regen flex hoses that keep burning thru
and you are stuck with all Volvo all the time because it is all propriatary volvo truck volvo motor
In any event you can see the truck i drive in my profile, Id put it in my sig line if i could figure out how to do it LOL

I read a report and don't see how what happened was the fault of Lone Mountain. Alternators, air charge coolers and injectors can go out at any time and without much, if any, warning. A clutch is easily checked by looking at it. If someone rides a clutch they can wear it out very quickly.

In truth, it is expensive to own a class 8 truck. Things will break. Because things can break is the very reason why I and others who own trucks suggest that anyone who wants to buy a truck have money set aside for repairs. Even with a warranty things can happen which may not be covered.

One thing that stuck out in reading the article was that the poster mentioned that there was trash in the fuel tank and they had to replace fuel filters. They insinuated that Lone Mountain should have checked or known about trash in the fuel tanks. All it takes to get trash in your tank is to buy fuel where there is trash in their fuel. It could happen anywhere you purchase fuel. I have gotten water and trash in my fuel. It happens. Water in the fuel is a reason some injectors can fail. That may have been the reason they had an injector go out.

When you buy a class 8 truck, or anything else mechanical, it is up to the buyer to check it out. If you don't know what to look for then you should pay someone to do it for you. The bottom line is that you should be prepared for the worst when buying a truck. Don't buy one until you can afford to have it repaired. I doubt that Lone Mountain is any worse or better than any other dealer when it comes to checking trucks out. I am sure that most will check the basics, but not go out of their way to make repairs on anything that isn't obvious.

well said.....that is why those of us with seat time preach "get some experience" before you buy or lease..

Most of these people have no idea how big a step it is to run a truck on their own, then when they fail and go broke they show up on sites like this one and blame it on everybody but themselves..

G/MAN and groundpounder, I agree. We do an interview with customers after they fill out an application and ask: What is your maintenance plan, and what are you going to do WHEN the truck breaks down?

You would be amazed at some of the responses.

Also, as far as the ripoff report. That site is a joke. One person can post multiple times and can make as many accounts as they want, and post whatever they want.

The one that was linked to was actually posted by a drivers wife. We talked to the driver and offered to givehim his money back, but he didn't even know that she had posted it. He apologized and said he would have her write a retraction the next day.

Most of the post on Rip-Off has a rebuttal at the end by the owner of Lone Mountain. That says a lot to me when the owner of a company takes time to set the record strait. I plan on buying a truck from Lone Mountain in the near future. The fact of their high BBB grade says a lot to me anyway.
