Lone Mountain Truck Leasing

I'm not gonna tear your whole post apart but this part about the ICON system really tells the whole story to me. You can disengage that by simply removing 1 wire from the battery that powers the ICON system. I'm gonna guess you took it to a shop that "saw you coming a mile away" and that has been a big part of your problem.

I'm not gonna speculate on who you have your truck leased to but I'm gonna guess that they made you get the repairs done by their shop after they did "their" DOT inspection on it and if that's the case then that tells a story all of it's own too. How long did you and your husband spend thoroughly inspecting the truck yourselves at the dealership? I know a guy who bought a truck from them and spent 3 or 4 days going over trucks till he found one that he felt was the right one. BTW they also will fix anything that you find wrong or ask them to fix as long as you do it before you leave with the truck. As stated already there a several people on this forum who have had much more positive dealings with them.


Thing is I drove for an O/O that purchased a truck from a different dealer ( i won't mention there name because it's irrelevant but they are a reputable national dealer chain ) that had way more problems than what you have mentioned. You could take 10 identical trucks and 5 out of the 10 may be great and 5 out of the 10 may be junk. It all depends on how they were treated over their life.

 

I'm driving a Lone Mountain truck right now. It's an '05 Columbia that originally was part of Celadon's fleet.

Medicineman has a sister truck to this one.

There's been no unsightly problems with either of these trucks.

Mine's not getting very good fuel mileage right now, and IIRC neither is MM's, but all in all buying these trucks didn't hurt MM or my boss any.

 

A simple pulling of a wire would not have taken three different shops, (two Freightliner shops, and one Inernational Shop) to get that thing out of there. Some companies put them in and hardwire them so that their company drivers cannot screw around with them. YA THINK THEY SAW US COMING as we are broke down with this truck. I am not going to even begin to explain the other details upon details of this sham of a truck that we were sold. Others definitely got lucky, unfortunately we didn't, but the fact still remains that they have been unwilling to do anything to remedy this terrible situation. Who would want to deal with a company like this? That is the whole point here... "Don't take a chance of this happening to you" was the message, and that they will not stand behind their product or service... look at the BBB site, they have two other complaints for the same "Poor Products" and "Poor Service". My husband has been with this same company we lease to for 18 years, and this is the first truck taken through their shop that didn't PASS INSPECTION THE FIRST TIME WITH NO HASSLES OR EXTRAS!

Yeah I know what hard wired means and it still has to have a main power lead which is a simple disconnect.

Yeah I do, because your attitude and response to my simple post shows what kind of person you are to deal with. Wow I feel sorry for your husband!

Wow only 2 complaints. A quick search of the BBB website showed that most companies had a couple complaints of similar nature. There is an old saying that you might have heard, you can't make everyone happy no matter what you do.

Maybe it's just me but it seems as though anyone who took some time to look at a truck themselves would have noticed mismatched drums leaky seals and an engine that shut itself off.

what are mismatched drums ????
you might have a cast and a steel i guess---but so what--either the drum fits or it doesnt--either it is worn out or it isnt--they arnt tires

 

There are also "extended life" drums and non....and also mountain brake drums which are generally an inch wider, along with the pads

 

Again though, any of those things would be easy to spot if they crawled under the truck.
