All I can tell you for sure is that he was there getting several base plates. I can assure you that noone would spend the day at my IRP office unless you need to get your base plate. You won't find any company drivers there wasting their day.
With 20 trucks there will be a lot to do.

with 20 trucks, I'd hand the titles to a licensing agent and let them worry about it.

I just paid $150 for getting my prorate set-up, registering the truck and all that legal crud. My head was spinning trying to figure it out. The guy I am working with has been doing it for 40 years.
Saves me almost $1200 in sales tax, prorated the plate/registration fee, bunch of other things.
Also brought me up to speed on a change to the 2290 tax.
Up till this year, MN required it be paid PRIOR to paying and receiving your plates.
July 2nd, 2012, it's now not due till the end of the month following the month you put the truck into service.
Let's me get running and earning revenue a bit and I still have that $550 in the bank to either pay it or pay for a tire....At least it gives me an additional 8 weeks now to generate additional revenue.

It is really not much more difficult to buy 20 than for 1 truck. You just add the vin numbers to the application. Averitt has someone in the IRP office about every time I renew my base plates. My state recently started allowing owners to buy their base plates online. Once ordered you can either pick them up or have them mailed to you. I think that I might do that next year.

Yop.
I am simply waiting for my temp tags now to be able to go pick up the truck in Washington state. I live in MN. Bought a truck and trailer out there so I can simply start hauling once I get it all together.
Leased on with BBB at Farm2Fleet.
07 Century, 707K miles, DDS60 with 419hp at 1500rpm. 13spd and 3.42 gears. Also comes with an APU. They did a full dyno, pre-sale service, DDEC printout and also were able to acquire the full maintenance record from the previous owners, Cross Creek Trucking. Add that to the full Freightliner service/warranty record.

I originally wasn't planning on doing this until end of 2013.
But the more I scoured the numbers, worked with different O/O and saw the actual load revenues/numbers and operating costs, the actual loss of net profits far outweighed any cost of financing. Almost 10:1.
besides, when I found the truck above, it literally had my name on it already. When we looked at it, the "contact" person was my name out in Washington state. Turns out he's the general manager for the dealer store where I bought the truck from.
