When you say in house financing, Are you saying they do the financing as in buy here, pay here ? Just curious, thanks

Basically yes. If you look at their website it will tell you how it works.

I'll give the ranting-Lone-Mountain-will-rip-you-off lady the benefit of doubt.

Even a perfectly good looking apple will have a worm in it now and then.

However, all of us as consumers have to accept a little bit of responsibility.

Only she and her husband know how well they looked over the truck before buying it.

The evidence does lead us as readers to believe that they didn't do their homework, but I can't say that's necessarily true beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yes, Keith the owner also is involved with a finance company in Indy which is the place that will finance the truck. If you have descent credit (550+ score) and a good downpayment (usually $5,000) he will work out a deal for you. My 1st truck i bought there was a 2003 T600 back in 2007 and I got it for $39,000 w/489k miles on a 6NZ motor. In 2008 I went back and bought a 2005 IH 9400i for $35,000 with 378k miles and a 550hp Acert. Last month I bought a 2006 Pete 387 for $27,000 w/513K miles and 470hp C13 (I also traded in my 99 FLD) This last truck I am lease/financing thru their company for $325 a week for 2yrs (104 weeks). The rate is better than Lone Mountain and much better than any other comapny I called. After that I own it (I went this route for the tax benifits and kept my cash as a reserve) I can pay it off at any time with no pre-payment penalty. He also told me, after my 2yrs is up, and I get my title, I can bring it in, and I can pick out ANY truck on the lot and do the same thing again if I wanted to, which I will most likely do.

And for their reputation, 1 week after buying this 387, the hood hinge went bad. Peterbilt wanted $1300 to repair the hood. i called him and he had me fax him the estimate and then he overnighted me a check for the FULL amount and I had it repaired. Now that's a good company, as he didn't have to do anything for me as I bought it AS-IS.

ok but still---if you have a run of the mill drum--or long life drum--or mountain drum----would you change it?--why--its going to do exactely the same thing
i have never seen the mountain drums---i was born a flat lander

i have looked lyons equipment on their site---looks like a decent place although i know nothing about them--just havnt heard all the bad stuff like other places

Unless you are a tech you'd be hard pressed to tell an extended life drum from a regular drum while on the truck... same with the shoes. Any mismatch in these parts will result in very poor brake performance.

yes--i never thought about the braking performance--i know the shoes can be a bit tricky to tell i had a plastic jig for the cams --for a quick check to see if they were Qplus or not
but still---not sure if it was on my own truck i would jump up and be changing them--wait for one set to wear out then change them right accross the axle like it should be done
but i still believe lone mountain--or most dealers say here is the truck--look it over --its used and a VERY good look is warrented---even brand new trucks warrant a good look before they hit the road

put it this way. If you are not capable of looking over a truck and telling what's A good truck and what isn't then you have no right buying a used truck.

when I bought my truck from them I was there for four days. In that four days I saw 6 guys walk in, drive one truck and sign the papers. I had the hoods up on 8 trucks inspecting every one to find the best one. some of them were turds some weren't, it's YOUR JOB to figure out which is which. A big part of this is knowing which fleets these trucks came from. Our trucks are celedon shakers and all of them were in better shape then any or the werner trucks I looked at. You couldn't pay me to take one of their trucks.

Lone mountain tells you right up front. they will fix any problems before you leave with the truck but once you leave its your baby. there is no warantee. LM was and has been very good to deal with. I've had a few times my payments bounced and they were very good about it. I've not had any problems with them.

that said though these are leases. So many payments at such n such a price then you get the title. There is no savings by early payments etc. Once you get the truck it's yours and you will likely not get enough out of it to sell or trade it in untill it's either paid off or very close.

IMO Lone Mountain is the most reputable company out there who will get a truck into the hands of good people who may have bad credit for one reason or another. however if you have good credit there is many other options I would pursue first

Thanks, I looked and did not see any where on explaining how it works. I did see the application.

Thank You, I called them yesterday morning and left my name and number with the lady answering. The sales people were busy. I see a truck I'm interested in and may pursue them for a finance.

I whole heartedly agree with you. This 387 i just bought was a PACAR lease truck so i know everything was repaired and done right. I got a 4 page print out of all the oil changes, repairs and such too. Lyons had put new brakes all the way around, and allowed me to swap over my brand new tires onto the new truck from the FLD (I had bought them 3 weeks prior) at no charge. At the same time I was looking over a Marten truck and a Melton KW. The Marten truck was clean and looked good but was bare-bones and the Melton truck was $10k more with more miles, but because it was a T600 with a C15 550hp, they wanted it. I chose the truck i bought because it seemed like the best on the lot, and the deal was great (tho i do have good credit) even my bank couldn't match the dealerships financing. So far so good.... and I hope the same keeps up for you
