You might want to re-post this in the Owner Operator forum. Several O/O's here have bought trucks from them.

I'll just move the thread there.

Yes, I do believe Medicineman did get his rig through them. He is one that I have seen recommending them.

I contacted them the other day and the only tractors they had sort of in my price range were 05' Columbia's with over 700k. To get a 700/month payment they wanted 10k down and then 700/month for 24 months. That comes out to $26,800 for an 05' with close to a million miles. Not really that great of deal in my eyes, even if they used 10% interest that still makes the vehicle worth $24,120. I'd be more comfortable at the 19-20k dollar range on that truck/s.

    trucker43 Thanks this.

If you look at the truck paper and compare similar trucks with similar miles, and then figure in finance charges, the difference ends up being about whatever the down payment is you pay at Loan Mountain. So you'll end up paying about $3k more over the life of the loan. Not too bad in my opinion. I mean if you have GREAT credit and can pick out any truck you want and get "normal" financing then more power to you. However it is very difficult for a veteran O/O to get financed these days and basically impossible for a start up O/O without a HUGE down payment. JMO

Actually a quick search of truckpaper for 2005 Columbia's between 650-750k miles showed an average price of $27k and that doesn't include finance charges.

Your right hillbilly there are a lot of 05's in that price range, there's a few closer to my 20k comfort zone as well. I'm not trying to say that LM is wrong in what they are charging, it's just not in my comfort zone for what I'm looking to do.

I'm fortunate enough that I don't need to worry about financing as I have already been approved through my local bank for up to 30k. But I want to try and find something in the 15-20k range for the work I intend to do with the truck. Lower payments are higher on my priority list than finding an impeccable OTR tractor.

But having said all of that, if you are in a position that you need to go through a program like this to purchase a tractor the salesman I spoke to was very nice and straight forward with his answers to my questions. So if you have not spoken with them yet and are wondering if you should I would recommend talking to them as my over the phone experience was very good.
