haha, I talked to an o/o yesterday at the pipe yard said he hauls generators for around 3$ a mile on a stepdeck. How is it that some places pay fair and then other places would starve a guy out, it boggles my mind.

I asked this question to a prospect that said they paid $1.75. They said they had people taking that rate with no issue and if that was hard to make it at why would they do it? I honestly believe that many of the smaller shippers do not have a qlue on this. And when drivers will keep taking low rates they never figure it out.

But, when they are presented with numbers and the seed is planted on how a low rate carrier is likely to have more issues they question and look for different things when they are talking to carriers.

I investigated the power only plan thoroughly. I spoke at length to the insurance agent that they referred me to. He insured a lot of O/O's who went into the program. After a couple of chats he told me that if you can live on 1.35 a mile and run 500 mile trips on average that's pretty much what the program comes down to.

If you want them to stop bothering you just tell em you recently got a DUI. The calls will stop.

I used to get calls from them all the time then i changed my number. Did a broker load with them a few weeks ago and now they have my number again and the calls have started all over again. It is almost laughable. I told them if they have to call people so much then they obviously are not worth working for because they can't keep the people they have. Shut him up.

We've never hauled for them or called them. They locked on to us because they have a Family Dollar account and there's a FD DC in nowhere west Texas near where we live. They must've done searches for carriers near there and found our info. Funny thing is they want to pay $1.48/mi on that FD stuff, and it's all driver unload... but their Power Only pays better with 100% no touch freight

These FD loads are the worst. Wouldn't do them for $3/mile. Forget about the driver unload part. Think about the locations of many of their stores? Watched the guy wanting to deliver to the one on our town. No way he could do it without blocking traffic for a couple hours. And no one from the store would come out and help him try and back into the lot with cars in it so that he could leave at least one lane open.

Went to help him. Man, never seen a guy so stressed. 3rd load that day. Had 2 other drops. 3rd week doing this and he said this was not even close to the worst he has been in.
