Hi, only thing i see on roof mount, is the vibertion, it's gonna crack that fiberglass roof , unless you take headliner down and build a alum frame for it, just my thoughts.

Window mounted A/C units work just fine. I have one mounted in the back of my truck. Been there for almost 5 years now. 22,500 btu unit. Does not require the curtains in the cab to be closed and can cool my 80" condo down to 70 no problem when it's 110 outside.

Glad to hear it works good for you. Personally, I think there are too many safety and design issues with do-it-yourself APUs.

The mounting bracket design has not been tested by an approved lab.

A hard brake or collision may send a window AC unit into the cab or on top of a sleeping co-driver.

Cutting a hole in the sleeper may degrade it's integrity in the event of a rollover.

You have the potential fire hazard from gasoline and unsafe electrical connections.

Carbon Monoxide hazard from improper exhaust routing.

Come to think of it, I wonder if a truck equipped with a DIY APU would pass a rigorous DOT inspection?

Well, you obviously don't know what your talking about. I do not have a home made APU, it's a Rigmaster. It runs off diesel, not gas. The brackets are secured with 3/4" bolts to the truck and the A/C is secured to the brackets with 1/2" bolts. There are no unsafe connections. This is not a hillbilly installation. Check your facts before spouting off Jethro.

Whoa, Dude. I'm not looking for a fight here. And I apologize for the mistake. Was referring to gas generators and consumer type AC units.
