A big factor in making this decision is what kind of freight you haul. If you haul high dollar valuable stuff, then the chances are the linehauls will be greater, and favor per centage. Run of the mill freight and the possibility of significant dead heads will push it towards mileage, and of course both will vary with how much per mile or the actual per centage.

What you haul and WHO you haul for. Working for someone that offers both and then doesn't allow you to pick your loads can get iffy.
SHC Thanks this. -
Tanker
62%
Or
Mileage
110 loaded
090 MT
Avg line haul = 250-310 in some cases 320 -
On % I would get FSG on loaded and MT miles
Mileage same FSG -
Percentage = I would get a pick or 2-3 -
I'm getting 75% & averaging $1.51 per mile on all miles
-
They day avg would be
1.45-150 all miles
Not counting
Deimurge $ 65.00 per hr after 2
Fuel discounts ( bout 10 cents off pump )
Pump / Air : pay 40.00 ea ( if used)
Tank wash : 65.00 PR hr after 2 -
Most tank work pays better on % than mileage. I ran tanks for 2yrs and I always avg $3.50 a mile + loaded, and then got fsc on my deadhead back.

IMHO--I have always said it is about REVENUE and not MILES--The idea(at least in my mind)is to run as FEW MILES as possible for as much money os possible........
Of course there are many variables in this--but I have ALWAYS used this concept as my guiding light shall we say--so it does depend on what you are doing etc...just look at it VERY closely and do the math--and then double check your math--and then do it again--LOL
Best of Luck!Mommas_money_maker Thanks this.
