If you just used dispatch services like the ones that charge a monthly fee wouldn't you avoid non Payer brokers?

If you used a factoring service with no recourse ( sure it would be 6% but it's worth the head ache) wouldn't you avoid non payers ?

If you used ch r. And land star wouldn't you Not worry about not reving payment? Also wouldn't you be able to get quick pay from them?

When you sign a lc and it has an adress of were it's goof and a number can you call them and confirm this and tell them your on the way? Wouldn't this avoid issues like broker saying you dropped in the wrong place and asking you to move and not offer extra pay?

When you take a load from a broker you check his mc on FMCSa, call verify his bond, check his credit on the load board, and also use a factoring company to check his credit, google is name and company, check in the search box his info on this site? What else would you add
to this list prior to taking a load from a broker ?

When callin on a load why not ask for fsc up front or 50% of load up front to avoid issues? Sounds rude but so dose saying they don't pay and you being out your money.

Do Canadian brokers and dispatch companies have as bad of a rep as American ones do? Why do you say so?

Please only answer if u run under your own authority and do all the work your self. Because if you are leased and a dispatcher is telling you
something the carrier told the broker who told the the dispatcher.... Well you et the point. You might not be getting the whole story. You probaly ain't getting the really pay either. So let's all sit back and listen to the o/o unders their own authority. Please. Thank you.

PLEASE KEEP ALL ANSWERES STRAIGHT AND TO THE POINT SO IF IT TURNS IN TO A TEN PAGE BILLON post RESPONSE THREAD IT CAN BE USEFULL INFO NOT NONSESE.

You still have to make a carrier agreement and invoice the broker. The dispatch service is simply your agent.

Depends on terms. Usually only in case of inability to pay. A crummy broker can jam you up good with invoice claims that aren't covered by a non-recourse agreement. You still have to fight those battles.

Probably less than others. However, when your invoice is one of thousands, the trend can go the other way. Regardless of what broker you haul for, the person most interested in getting you paid is.... YOU. And many brokers do quick pay. It's basically an in-house factor. If it's a good deal to you, then go for it.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If there's a problem with the load, you have to work it out with the broker case-by-case. Most of the time if you can establish some kind of cost you've incurred, most will make it right. Sometimes you get screwed. The better and faster you communicate, the more likely it will work out for the better.

A good rate? Wait.. that wasn't the question? LOL.

I think you're doing too much. Most load boards will have a built-in credit checking feature. I can almost be sure that if the broker authority is bad, they won't be able to list on the board. Same thing happens with carriers. I look at credit score and days to pay to decide if it's someone I want to bother with. Then I do a credit check with my factoring company to make sure. Then even sometimes that isn't enough and you get one that's difficult or slow pay. Only you can decide what's good enough for you before you make the call.

Pretty much anything like that is handled as an advance that will incur fees or discounts or both. Since I'm usually factoring them anyway, I don't sweat the quick-pay options they offer. Unless it's cheaper than the factor of course.

I'll pass on this one, although I almost booked a US load with a LS broker with a 905 area code. We didn't get far enough along to find out if they paid with a cheque or a check. Turns out it was an ice cream load and my reefer trailer lacks the youth for me to be confident with a -20ºF (that's -29 in Canadian!) continuous setting.

Hey bud - YOU'RE the one that stuffed 8 questions in one post!

He's back and on fire today. Some good posts today Red.
Would not add much to what Red has to say. He did all the hard work separating out all questions.
My $.02 would be that when you are starting out to take your time and don't take any load while driving if you are not 110% sure of what you are booking. Most of my mistakes have come from booking what I thought was a great load that once I slowed down and looked at it I was sitting on a turd for one reason or another.

Getting a bit of air due to my day job duties dwindling to nothing (last day is tomorrow) and being blessed with some good timing with the truck this week. I'll not hijack georgeandson's fine thread any further and probably update the "no experience" thread in the next day or three.

When I was dispatching other trucks I would always check the credit of a new broker before booking the load. I don't know if all dispatch services do that or not. It is still ultimately your responsibility to check credit of those with whom you do business. Not all brokers offer advances on loads, especially with a new carrier. Some will advance once you are loaded after you have hauled a few loads for them without incident.

When I deal with a new broker I always check them out. I check authority, banking and business references along with the credit service. But, I now can make a single phone call and check well enough that I can make a decision as to whether I will do business with them or not.
