Mass Tort is a statute, not a singular or group case. And there's only two Ts in litigation... so THERE! Nyaahhh! :)

Is this for issues within the last couple of model years? Because they spent a lot of money addressing EGR and Injector issues for upto '06 model year.

I think the point is it is not certified, rather one attorney is gather clients to sue one defendent. When I have been approached for something similar in the past the issue I had was being held responisble for my share of the fees and expenses.

    Changed the spelling.

But I have never heard of it being classed a statute before.

Mass torts usually involve large numbers of claims that are associated with a single product.

Therefore, it would be a Mass tort case in dealing with the Volvo issue.

Class Action and Mass Tort Lawsuits:

A class action lawsuit is a complaint filed by one party on behalf of everyone in a similar situation. Such lawsuits look at the big picture and are useful, for example, to force a company to take a legal action.
A mass tort lawsuit is different. Like class action lawsuit, a mass tort combines many legal cases into a single trial, but unlike a class action each plaintiff is treated as an individual with their own individual lawsuit. The difference between a mass tort and an individual case is that in a mass tort lawsuit many similar cases are argued together saving time and money that can be better spent preparing to make the best legal case for you. Mass torts pool legal resources from many similar cases to benefit each unique case.

Who are the attorneys in this "mass action" suit - does anyone have a link to the filed complaint?

Well, the OP said it was OOIDA.

With their track record, look for it to be filed in about 5 years.

Just wondering if I could help... being a recent Volvo owner... and that other "background" thing.
