    isx....

    1) you WILL be replacing manifold bolts @ 600k or so
    2) you WILL be replacing EGR cooler about the same time
    3) turbo will cost ya about $4k when it goes

    D12....

    1) you WILL be replacing EGR's (2 of them as opposed to ISX which has 1) about every 200k, at about $2k for both, unless you do a delete like I did
    2) only a Volvo dealer can do most of the work on your motor...think about that for a minute....look up Volvo dealers, see how far apart they are, towing costs about $3 per mile....just sayin
    3) motor WILL last forever (I have 950k on mine), but is somewhat underpowered (torque) for what you may need
    4) you cannot uprate the HP on a 465 D12

    stay with the ISX

Thanks for the info, but was wondering about the 16 not the 12. I'm looking at 3 diff units. 2-379's both with 600 Cummings n then the Volvo with D16 600 hp. All r heavy specs. Not to say fuel consumption is not key, but I do not plan on avg more than 3.5-4 mpg anyway. I have heard that the isx had just as many probs in the 2010 models units, not matter the brand of truck. Have also hear that the 2012 was first for DEF n the had issues to. I do realize that all post E engines have/will be problematic, and understand the lack of dealer network. Just trying to find out which is the lessor of the evils....
