Just wondering how much longer I can run my 2004 Western Star out to California? Just wanting to know going by the current carb rules in place.

    Thanks

So according to that link, I will be ok till 2014??

Also, I have the catalytic convertor removed from my truck, so I'm not sure it would be worth risking a smog check, but we have some $4 mile loads heading into Ontario, CA for the next few months.

You can only go if you promise to plug your exhaust into the air intake @ CARB home offices & press your right foot down.:biggrin_25520:

Word on the street here in CA is that this stuff will never happen... You know how that goes though. I don't see how it can possibly be enforced and still have things moved in this state, it would put a lot of folks out of the industry or at least just out of the state, myself included.

I wouldn't bet the farm on it not happening. Cali is just plain crazy, run by crazies and getting worse.
After all, they elected Gov Moonbeam again!

This reminds me of the snow chains. When I first went over the road, my dispatcher was warning me about how many snow chains I needed. He read the CA webpage for snow chains. But the first time I went through Truckee the actual guys letting you through had a different standard. They only wanted to see a pair on the truck and a pair on the trailer.

Will the CARB laws be like this? You go to the official CA website and it says you need all these emission things. But then when you go to a check point the guy just checks the bare minimum and lets you roll through?

Well, the fact my truck smokes like an old freight train might throw up a red flag :biggrin_25511:

I heard that it is going to be 1-1-14 but as an O/O you can apply for an extension until 2017 IIRC. Heard that on the road dog trucking landline now I think it was.
