Ok, I'm about fed up with this dedicated run I do and looking to make a change very soon.

I live in NW Indiana (60 miles from downtown chicago) and I'm looking for a job that will get me home nightly. If any of you know of somewhere looking for a o/o driver please chime in.

I would have put this in the job seeking section but nobody seems to go there.

Come on man. Check out my pics in the flat section. Not home nightly, unless your hauling boring old steel. Remember it's not just a job, it's an adventure!!!:biggrin_2559:

I'm looking to start a family and being gone from home won't cut it much longer. But Landstar is at the top of the list. Tho I hate to start running a flat in the winter up here, it's not all warm and sunny like Florida lol!!!

Next would be the wait for LS to find me a stepdeck. When I was on in '07 it took them a week to locate me a #### van trailer!!

Have you got re-approved with LS? Just got off the phone with a guy that was with two different carriers in past 18-months and says LS wouldn't take him. Likely more to it than that but I know they have some criteria.

Ever check into hauling fuel? There are plenty of companies that do everything from station delivery to transmix and ethanol that hire owner ops.
Gladieux over by Ft. Wayne takes drivers.
    Keenan Advantage takes owner ops.
There's probably some other companies that do up there too.

Yes Bill, I'm already approved to go back. And I just spoke with their trailer management and I would not have to wait for a trailer, just have to get my butt down to FL for securement training.

Any chance u might be able to get me home or even everyother night? I don't mind pulling van, flat, hopper whatever.

I called Altom and they have no local stuff, everything is OTR. BP and Marathon do not take o/o here but I will check with Keenan.

I also live in a high hopper area so I may start asking around about that too.

I looked into a hopper/dump company, a few months ago, called Buchheit trucking, they are based in scott city missouri. I was looking at a company position but had to hold off till after the first of the year to change jobs. I do remember that they were looking to lease on some o/o in that area. I know they run from that direction to texas and back.

Not to change they topic but does anyone know any thing about them.

Not sure how old you are but this is one of the toughest parts of being in this industry, especially if you're a young(er) person. I did the OTR thing for 2 years when i was 22-24. All the money in the world doesn't give you what you want and sometimes need. Not sure what the market is like up there but have you looked into the dump type stuff at all? Feeling much like it sounds like you currently do is what led me into this branch of the industry. Gotta do a ton of hustling to stay busy but if you do the money is generally pretty good (at least out here).

Never heard of them, and I live in NW Indiana so they won't be any help to me, but I may call because you just never know.
