Dam...I guess I need a new job. Im trying to save up to become o/o as well. You would think I should know better, watched my father do it for 35yrs. I've just got a local job right now, making the big bucks at $550 take home a week. I provide for a family of 55 so its a super slow process for me but im trying to chip away at it. A big think you to all the hard and honest o/o's on here and their great advice and opinions, the most valuable thing us newer guys and girls can learn is to respect and listen to those that have been there and are doing it.

Add another 1,000 ins and 2,000 for refer stay away from spring rides if you can afford to. OH and dont buy any refer until you see its empty weight 15,500 lbs or less ...Ive seen older ones weigh 17,000 lbs they are loaded with H20.

 

your making 1500 gross local.... are your a company driver? if you are that's amazing and there's no need to go o/o.

optimus prime, buy a truck with a detriot... more fuel efficient and when it blows you wont be bankrupt trying to fix it.

sure w900's and pete's are ###### but if their cat engine's blow consider your career and economic life over unless you have a 20-30 grand maint account.

Dude, if you have read ANYTHING on this forum - that would be the worst mistake you could make.

Any decent PACCAR (Kenworth/Peterbilt) is the way to go.
Naturally I am very partial to the W900 and it is not big and square but has CLASS.
All of the new "aero" designed plastic crap 'fleet' trucks are exactly that. Crap with a different wrapper. The T2000 is probably KW's biggest mistake and the only KW worth steering clear of.

But, this is YOUR choice as you move forward. Do what YOU want.
Yea, Detroits are typically cheaper to overhaul and maintain. They won't have the output of a Cummins but will do fine for most anything.
