I am a owner operator, and I just discovered that there are some bad shippers that are getting away with overweight shipments. So I need to know from admin if I can list the names here so my coliges to watch out from them otherwise they may end up lodging at scale in CA.
Two months ago I hauled Plastic crates from Nogales AZ to Rancho Cucamonga, CA . I balanced the My tandem to ca law did everything possible could not balance it so I went back to shipper well it was lat no one home . the total Wight was about 38900. 60 pallets to edge of the vans doors fool. So I spoke to my dispatcher or the broker and we decided to roll. When I got to entry port in Ca I was pulled over inspected we and my Wight was 1500 pounds over at rear tandem.
The broker calls me back arranges for a truck to get to me and take some of the weight.
I asked the broker why I was over loaded by shipper , he informed that the customer ( Name :Frank) did order only 56 pallets so he blamed the shipper for overloading my trailer.
Now the fun part! 6 weeks passed I got a call from deferent broker for a load from ranch Cucamonga to Wilcox AZ. 38900 Lb . I agreed for the price and got confirmation rate guess what ?
In addition this location is the manufacturer of the product that I was hauling and it seems they have no MDS or MSDS.
When got to location got loaded to the edge of my trailer door I asked to remove couple pallets otherwise I will be overweight. My request was rejected , so, I asked to speak to frank makes me wait for 30 Minutes then he shows up and asked me about what the problem is , I explained to him and I talled him about the experience I had with his load which he had no clue about it. Any way they make me go back to Ta some 13 miles and get back with certificate that the Wight was over so they remove the 4 pallets the time lost in this was about 4 hours .
Now, frank claims company policy , and this is manufacturer who know exactly what is the weight and size of their product . so they making us the drivers to take a risk and load you late Plus penalty if you deliver late , so you have no time to scale the product . and assuming they are Manufacturer and will do work with some commonsense. Think again do not trust this guys specially Frank, he is Lair and crook.
I had fit with him after wards. if any of you run it to this company called IFCO watch out Of your balanced weight.

So you are saying that you can't scale a load of pallets that only weigh 38,900 lbs.? That seems a little fishy to me. Also 4 pallets won't drop your weight 1500 lbs. either. You are saying that 60 pallets weigh 38,900 lbs...that comes out to roughly 648 lbs per pallet. I don't see that as possible considering all IFCO handles is empty pallets (block, plastic, or normal wood ones). I have hauled many pallets loads for Chep and IFCO with not even issue. Help me understand the real issue here cause I'm kinda lost.

sure it did not make sence to me eather . untile i was stock at wight station CA dot and spend 24 hours there , there is nothing to understand lots of driver are doing the load and they miss the california DOT wight stations after that they are safe. my expelnations are clear . if you take all 60 pallets you will be over wight on your rear tandem By California Law when your tandem is at 40 ' from KIng pen. So when you enter AZ you can slide your tandem and you are leagel agian .

so many drivers are not scaling and taking chances . if you haule for them real chep thats great. I will not doing it agian thats Good for you . no compitation there.
