North Dakota "Bubble"?

Oil field work has always be done in a "bubble".

Some bubbles last longer than others.

Just ride that puppy as long as you can

I was just up there in New Town , ND this past week. It is still booming, and at least in New Town they are building more man camps. Alot of guys that haven't spent a Winter in ND will be tucking ther tail betwwen there legs, and heading back South in a few weeks.

Runningman, I think I'm headed up there next week. I'll check out Newtown.

If I knew the bubble would last at least several months, I would be all over it. I just don't want to get there as it pops. Especially if I buy a specialized trailer - vac or pneumatic. I suppose I could pump septic tanks with the vac trailer and not have to empty for a long time LOL.

I've seen 2 interviews within the last month on the major networks.

Industry is predicting 10-20 years. Take that as you will.

ND is NOT the only boom area. They are just the hottest for the moment, due to the weather. Oklahoma and Texas are right on their heels.

ND and Canada oil field have been begging for drivers for the last 3 winters.

Kansas is firing up also, pipe for Shell is booming out of Muskogee.

I have also spoken with people who believe that we are still early on for demand and it will coninue to increase. If that is the case, perhaps the demand will remain and the rates will stay high?

It looks to me like there will be demand there in the long term as long as crude prices stay high and the EPA doesn't shut things down, but as more trucks arrive to meet the demand, it seems that the "bubble" might burst.

So what do you think? Is it a good time to head to the Bakken as an OO or not (as far as rates and work go).

the "bubble" or oil is heavy in every old field in the us belly dumps in TX are 200 an hr
the horizontal drilling has them working every field they thought was played out but good luck with the politics of oil

The housing market is few and far in between here in Minot. Rates for rent are 400% higher now then they were before the flood, NOT EVEN KIDDING. There is plenty of work, but no one wants to work. When McDonalds here is paying $10/hr, again, not kidding, its bad. Snowed twice this winter(so far) only about 3-4 inches, couldnt tell it now, almost all gone.....suppose to be 40 this sunday!

Lots of freight running in and out of this place due to the oil fields, and the reconstruct from the flood.

I myself am getting out of this place(military)
Wont miss this place at all! Heading back to Alabama!

The current boom we are in is not going no where in the near future..They have so many holes up there that came up wet that they will need to complete they will be in completion phase for years to come even if drilling stops. Was out in west texas a few weeks ago moving a rig and they were spitting distance from each other. Right now TX, ND, PA and OH to name a few and just across the border in Canada. I think 5-6 yrs before we start to see a slow down in drilling....just my two cents

Talked to a guy that was going up there a month or so a go. It was his second year and he was just picking up a flat. He said that you could keep busy with a flat being paid $150 an hour. He was going up there with a long cab Volvo that he and his dog was gonna live in. He said it was pretty crazy up there; guys wanted a piece of the money so bad that some were living in day cabs. He couldn't believe it, but said he saw it.
