I've been talking and emailing "goatman" or R. Rainey, for about 4 or more years...we have never met,nor do I plan to meet anyone, ride with any trucker I don't know etc.,but I do know that he seems personable. He is an old timer who has been around many years in the trucking industry, and as far as I can discern, He seems quite professional. He used to bring a pygmy goat along in his truck, and enjoyed the reaction he would get. His son lives near Seattle, WA and another son lives in MO.
Goatman is fun to talk to on the telephone, has a great sense of humor. He has been on radio shows, and is featured in a book about truckers. My overall impression of "goatman" is that he is a generally nice guy, however, I wouldn't advise anyone to "tutor" someone in trucking,as they might learn more than trucking.

You cant judge anyone on here or over the phone. best advice I can give you is arrange a meeting with him an his wife..... say over dinner. Bring your husband/bf along and talk over it all. Ask all the info you wanna know. All the stuff people brought up money, insurance, etc

Just 5 minutes of talking to him in that situation will tell you which way to go. And having someone that experianced training you never hurt. There still out there and know whats really going on. Will beable to get u outta any situation you get yourself into!
