Got a question about roadrunner transportation
I'm thinking about siging on as a Independent Agent for Roadrunner Transportation. Being an Ex- Truck Driver myself, one extremely important thing to consider is: How Does Roadrunner treat their Drivers? Are there any Roadrunner O/O out there? Your answer will be very important to me in determining if I will leave the HUGE O/O company I'm already an Agent for. Thank You

Before i was leased to landstar 3 years ago{ive hauled a load or two for you}, I was with roadrunner....I thought roadrunner was the best thing going, I was treated good and i loved it. ONLY reason i left was because i wanted to be home more. You find your own freight with roadrunner. At the time you made %96 of whatever a load paid, if you found load on your own thru a broker. Then after 3 loads it went down 1% each time. You can get freight from one of the many terminals across the US. But normally thats a 2 day wait and i couldnt do that wanting to go home more. I loved it there, would go back in a heartbeat...

The days of searching for your own freight are now done at RR. I was with Dawes before they were merged with RR, and still have a lot of friends over there.
They have made an emphasis to load leased trucks over outside power at their terminals for about a year now. It used to be they would contract outside carriers for X number of loads and would often load them instead of their own trucks, but that practice is now pretty well done with. They still use outside power, especially for unpopular destinations (Albuquerque, Denver, other dead end spots).
They also now have a department that does nothing but search the load boards and other sources for non RR freight if you're in an area where there's no RR terminal. A good friend of mine lives in eastern Colorado and they get him (admittedly cheap) stuff back to Milwaukee all the time. They find it, call you and see if you want it, then book it. He's very pleased with how it's been working.

I have been pondering going witht RRTS myself, for a while now... My wife and I are a team and they seem to operate a lot like LandStar, or did. I like the Agent and loadboard system that LandStar has and RRTS seemed to use the same type of system, at least until I read the post above... Anyone got anything to add? I would love to go with LandStar but don't hear too much regarding teams.

I know RR was just bought out by Arkansas Best Corp(ABC) a large corp that owns ABF and a number of other companies.

It really does no good to make blanket statements like that... How does that help a driver looking at said company? You must understand, when drivers read comments like yours, they just smirk and move onto the next one. If you REALLy want to help someone make an educated descision than, give some detail to your experience. Don't just make "blanket" statements. Thanks
