Flatbed seems to be the route to take, which I dont have experience in, but if the money is right, I'LL LEARN IT.

Any ideas on how I can gross 200k per year? What companies can I gross this much at? Landstar maybe or do I need to get my authority?

Right now I pull vans leased to a major company and I'm doing fairly well at it despite the cheap rates, but I'm ready for a change, and I know there's more money to be made for the work I do or could do!

    Please share your wisdom! :biggrin_25514:

I hear Sammons has big bucks if you can string enough loads together in a year, but I think they require 2 years flatbed experience.

Specialized would be the fastest way to break 200k, but you could bust your ### on $2.00/mile loads and do it no problem.

Sammons seems like a first class outfit. Do you know a good flatbed company willing to train? I was thinking of CRST Malone, but the recruiter refused to provide a copy of the contract which is a major red flag for me. Still many of their drivers seem happy there...

I do dry box, am home every weekend and holidays, and take two weeks off a year. My 1099 for 2011 was just over $190K. That's an option. Fremont Contract Carriers, Fremont, NE. They have flats also if that is where you want to ply your trade.

I drag a 3 axle rgn and a 50 ft slide axle stepdeck. I book most of my own loads and am able to average anywhere from $4000 to $9000 gross per week.

You may look around for a hotshot company that runs big trucks.

By Hotshot, I'm not talking about a one ton and a 40 ft trailer. I'm old school- a Hotshot load is one that needs to be delivered yesterday if not sooner. Generally going to be oilfield stuff where the down time is estimated in how many thousands of $$ per hour it is costing them.

You'd probably be hauling tubing, casing, drill pipe, BP's (blowout preventers), downhole tools and stuff like that.

$188k on 110k miles last year. Home probably 3 months out of the year. I just pull a 2 axle RGN for a midwest company.

200k is easy to make, I'm shooting for 250k plus this year. I did 110k in the last six months of 2011. Did it pretty much by the book to. Call Mercer, they will train you.
