Has anyone had experience as an Owner Operator with Menards.I can not find any info on hauling for them on here. The rates they quoted are .85 per mile with .51 fuel surcharge. The advantage was mostly drop and hook and always loaded. I would have to get my own authority and of course use their trailer.Just looking for someone who is or was with them for some insight.

way too cheap.......TruckRunner, D.Tibbitt, ramblingman and 6 others Thank this. -
I always wondered what their rates were, but wow...
A couple years ago there was a company handling all of that(I thought) running under their authority in IA. Never looked into it, but at $.85 + fsc it would not have been worth asking about.railroadertrucking Thanks this. -
Unless you forgot that 1 in front of the $.85, you just saved me a few phone calls.
Its a shame since they have a DC so close to my house.ramblingman and Dominick253 Thank this. -
We do a lot of loads for them and have talked to a lot of O/O's pulling for them. Seems most of the guys doing this are using day cabs and run at night. You can get a better rate if you are willing to run the longer runs.
Trade-offs of running under your own authority is that you can find reloads back and make a lot more money. But live loads there can take a while. But they also insult you by only paying $15 when you have to tarp. Upside is they will help get the tarps up and spread out and all you have to do is strap them down.
But heaven for bid when you scale you are under 75K because they will send you back and look to add something. If there is no room they will take pictures so they can justify that they sent a truck out that much under gross.barroll Thanks this. -
Have you pulled dry van for them too? How do their long haul rates compare between van and open deck, if you know?
-
When it gets busy they will do some power only R/T stuff but unless you are already in on other freight you are at the bottom of the list for loads. -
Seems like you could just do LTL stuff around here and make more money Bill. I dont blame ya for not jumping at the bit.

That sounds better than $.85/mile, but it still doesn't sound great, even for filler loads.
The tarp pay is a joke too. Even Werner pays better, and their linehaul rate isn't that much lower. In fact, there is no difference until you pull over 125 miles for Menards.Last edited: Mar 28, 2012

I pull for Menards. Granted it doesn't pay the best, but remember, it's power only. There are bonus programs to bump your pay including weekly mileage, weekend and year end bonus. It all adds up. I work when I want, mostly drop and hook, paid both ways from the DC to the store and back. I'm also signed up to work with a couple other outfits. I really like this power only stuff. Pull their wagon and don't have to deal with repair and maintenance on my own wagon. Heck... I sold my reefer.
BigBadBill, murat, barroll and 2 others Thank this.
