Anyone have any info on these. I was thinking about putting one in my w9. I have one in my pickup and it made a world of difference but didn't know how it affects big trucks

They usually help to some degree. But for really getting the best out of an engine, you have to do hardware as well as software. And what you can do overall depends on the engine make and your wallet.

There is more than one Bully Dog HD. Which one are you asking about?

The Bully Dog HD Watchdog only cost around $900 and can be upgraded to the Bully Dog HD Gauge Tuner that is around $3000.

I have the Bully Dog Watchdog that I bought at MATS and it has a great driving coach to fine tune your driving habits to get maximum fuel mileage. It can also read codes and can be used as a speed limiter for those that run in Canada.

    SHC Thanks this.

I am looking for fuel mileage mainly. I was originally looking at the 2800 dollar one.I didn't know about anything else.

I have the Power Pup installed on my 2004 C15 and I love it. My mpg went up from 4.8 stock to 6.8 with a 6NZ tune. But I also have a MBN CAT and that is why the gain was so much. I have spoken with many drivers who have ACERT motors and they said it was like driving a completely different truck. It spools faster, the fuel curve is great and the power goes all the way thru the rpm range.

I chose the Bully Dog over a PDI tune only because I like the fact that I can transfer it from truck to truck or if I sell the truck I can return it to stock and just sell the programmer and recoup some of my costs.

I'm going into PDI tomorrow for a big boss turbo upgrade so hopefully that will help a little more a well.

Get the exhaust manifold too. If the turbo is the same one PP sales (BW) with less backpressure matched with the exhaust manifold should gain you around 6/10ths mpg.

Unfortunately I cannot get the manifold because I have a Western Star and both PDI and PP told me that they do not make a manifold for my truck since the turbo and drain/feed lines are all in a different position. But I'm going to have them look at it anyways. Good thing is that I can always install it later and I will probably get stuck installing the turbo myself in the parking lot too LOL

As far as the manifold goes, Full Tilt makes the manifold and BD, PDI and PP all sell it. It's the same manifold no matter who you go thru.
