Very nice setup. I myself have thought about getting out of the class 8 scene and going with a smaller deal. How's work been going and is it harder to find freight with the smaller trucks??

My first year I nearly starved. landstar was the only comapny I knew then.
Their light weight freight comes and goes.
This year has been my best year yet sill not making no money but I spend it all on eqipment and stuff thats tax deductable. eastern area is best for hotshot type setups houston and eastward. I like NYC when it pays right.
The trick is lasting the first few years and learn what your doing and don't extend a bunch of credit, deal with companies like LS, CHR and those with quick pay. Spend more time running than chasing a invoice.
I would love to have a pete 379 but achrophobia and bridges wouldn't mix well.

I live just outside of Elkhart, IN so there would be plenty of freight, not to mention the steel mills and Chicago next door.

I'd just like the fact of driving something smaller and the cost of a new 1T truck and gooseneck is still $50,000 cheaper than a new rig. But finding the customers and surviving the 1st year would be hard with all the bills I already have.

I wouldn't buy a new truck. I go with a lower milage older one that way if you don't like it you're not stuck. Thats what happens these guys buy a 50,000 dollar truck then get the sawzall out and cuts cab open to put a sleeper on. Then six monthes later they decide they don't like it and guess what no one will buy the truck. If you're 6 foot or less you should be able to sleep in truck without sleeper comfortably, I do.

freight isn't the problem the right freight going somewhere you have hope of loading back from.

    SHC Thanks this.
