I am buying a 2010 Pete with Cummins isx 550. Anything I should know about this motor? It has 240k on it. Only thing I've heard it that you should change the oil filters halfway through the service because they get plugged up.

IMO if you don't run Cali the best thing you can do is delete the EGR/DPF. Dramatically increases MPG, power and reliability.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

I mainly run a 800 mile radius from Pa so thats not a problem. Who does that and how much does it cost?

No "legitimate shop" (or at least, not "on the books"). FEDERAL CRIME to mess with emission control systems. Gonna mess with your ecm too - as the newer motors are TUNED to run with EGR, so a non-egr tune is going to have to be put into an EGR-Tuned ECM.

I'm sure you could find a shop that will do it - but keep in mind, if there's any WARRANTY LEFT on the motor, you will be VOIDING IT my messing with these things...

Not telling you what to do with your equipment -= just saying...

Call Bruce or Tony at Pittsburgh Power. They can let you know what can be done.

Go ahead and and void you warranty as soon as you have a problem and take it in they see that you have the egr blocked it will cost you way more than you will ever save. you will gain a little more power but not much fuel mileage been there tried that

we have 2010 Pete, long nose, 550 ISX, 18 speed, awesome power along with constant DPF problems, also been thru 3 turbos, on the 4th now, several shop visits for EGR issues. Horrible fuel mileage! Good thing the Pete side has been dependable.

You warranty guys are funny. Does your warranty pay for downtime? What about when it's out of warranty and your buying EGR valves out of pocket ($1,000) turbo ($4,000) and DPF ($5000)? If you want it to keep it stock go for it, but there are plenty of guys with "fixed" motors that are never in the shop anymore.

Completely deleting all the junk off a friends T800 took the mileage from 4.3 to 6.2........just saying! Oh and it hasn't been in a shop since the delete for ANYTHING except oil changes. Funny how EGR valves don't fail when they're laying on the scrap pile.

Please carry on with the warranty discussion.
Please inform RSConsulting and Mr.Crazy (how ironic) on all the warranty claims you have had on this motor that HAVE NOT been related to the emissions system?

You have to have the warranty discussion with someone that is not familiar with this. Plus, why would anyone spend the kind of money he is looking at for anything other than the warranty?

On EGR, pre-'07 has been addressed. Would have thought it was going to be a non issue as they moved forward but apparently they made so many changes being rushed to get these out (talking all companies) that we are back with a whole new set of EGR issues (along with all the other stuff).

Will admit that I don't follow the new stuff that closely. But isn't this the motor that is at the top of the list in terms of nightmares?
