    Mail trucks and Milk haulers......

On my way to work this morning. I noticed the mail truck on his normal route and on time. Then I noticed the milk hauler making his rounds. Then he heads to Nashville to offload. I realized these guys don't get a day off. Especially the milk hauler since the dairy cows get milked twice daily 365 days a year. Do these type of o/o jobs pay better than average?

No. It's steady though. Goes 365 days a year.

Most of the mail trucks (TT) here in SoFla are "part time contract work". Not operated by the Postal Service. per se'.

Friend of mine just finished with them. 2 runs from Fort Lauderdale to Miami, drop-n-hook, $10 per hour, 6 hour shift, 5 days.

    Meh - PASS...

    Rick

i hauled milk as a contractor for dairymen in ga. my father -in-law also. you have to find relief drivers. he and i both worked a stretch of 96 days without a day off. the cows do not take a day off. and it doesnt pay anything fantastic.

96 days without a day off. I can't even imagine what that felt like. When you delivered the milk to the dairy, do they clean the tank out right after you empty the milk? And how do they clean it,do they use steam or what kind of process?

No kidding. I've had unemployment that paid better than that, and got paid better as an E-3!

The family that transports the mail from Chattanooga to my hometown have been doing it for over 30 years. They run two trucks. The father started their trucking business and passed it down to the son. They run on-time everyday I see them coming down the highway. They are always within 1 minute of the county line when I see them.
