Thinking about buying a Former Pumpkin Centery class Fleet Truck
We all know that Schneider has been replacing there fleet vehicles with the new Casadia's so of course now the used market is flooded with mid life freightshakers some a very good price for a first time O/O
I have about three years experience and been OTR for two years Off and on also ran regional and local really want to run my own truck now tired of comapnys telling me when to run. Would you recommended a former fleet vehicle or not. I know that turbos and injectors are due to be replaced and cant afford to buy a truck then have to do a major repair before I get my first settlement

The pricing might have been even better had Schneider not bought over 3000 glider kits last year and over 1000 this year and recycled engines, trannies, and rears from a lot of their fleet trucks. Kinda makes me wonder about the quality of the fleet trucks they actually decided to sell.

If you can't afford a major repair before your first settlement you're not ready to start up a business. So you're tired of the company telling you what to do how are you going to like it when the business is dictating instead? It's not so much freedom as dreamers think. Sounds like you need to get a financial mess in order imo before attempting this.

They're really pretty decent for the money. Schneider takes pretty good care of those, even synthetics in engine and power train. I don't know why you think it needs injectors or turbos(?), there isn't any set mileage your supposed to change them, plus if it needed any Schneider would have changed them. (only one turbo on a 12.7 Detroit) Personally, I'd stay away from that one, I don't trust those automatics. (ultrashift)

Sounds like it could be ok but remember, Schneider only changes the oil every 60k miles. They also know just how much abuse that engine can take before an inframe.
That said if I was to buy a Schneider truck an 07 automatic would be a good choice, you can be sure some rookie didn't get the chance to grind all the gears out.
