None of the complaints listed in any of the previous posts pertain to the NEW Volvo Ishift. Wont roll back on hills, you dont have to crash the trailer to hook up, or a dock, it will creep ahead or back, only have to feather the gas, you can rock it when you are stuck, it rarly ever makes mistakes, and, if it does NEVER takes 4 seconds to fix it, by the time you realize it made the mistake, its fixed it, you can shift it manually even when its in auto mode. or move the stick back one notch and shift with your thumb up or down. As far as engine brake, I have never had one that worked as well, not on a Cat, or Detriot, (Never owned a Cummins) you set where and how strong it comes on, I rarely have to use brakes on a hill, it will downshift automatically to slow you, seemless.

I drove an auto years ago in a columbia a friend had, swore id NEVER have an auto box, the ishift is NOTHING like any of the others, I LOVE MINE, and i dont need a manual shift to prove im a real trucker, been there, done that, got the tshirt, and the knee brace......

If I recall, that iShift and the Mack version of it are actually automated manuals and a different beast than older autos. Definitely a huge step forward in performance. I'm looking forward to seeing the long-term durability on those.

The same technology is coming out in cars. My wife's Passat TDI has an automated manual (called a DSG in a VW). It's definitely a big improvement over a more conventional automatic.

Yes indeed, the I shift is automated manual, it has been in Europe for years and they come with 5/750 warranty right out of the box. The mechanics at my dealer say they have only seen 2 fail, both on logging trucks that are abused, and both got new transmissions Apparently only 1 part number exists for the whole transmission.

The 5/750 warranty is only if you have 1750#torque or less. found with D13 motor. 3/500 warranty with d16 with 1850 torque
